Job Description

Position Summary:The Project Engineer will report to the General Superintendent. The primary focus will be assisting the Superintendent in coordinating all sites construction activities, shop drawings, RFI's and field change issues to successful completion of a project on schedule and within budget. This will also include field coordination, site meetings, and coordination with both foreman and project managers.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Obtains and submits all As-Built drawings, guarantees, warranties, and required operating instructions; Ensures that plans and specifications are issued to subcontractors and vendors, and that contractor jobsite plans and specifications are currentInterprets designs and drawings for crafts installing materials and qualificationsResearch and resolves drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference, and errorsPrepares field design change requisitions and "as built" drawings, as required. Prepares and disseminates all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc., to supervisorVerifies that all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specificationsReviews and comments on viability of design as required, conducts value engineering functionsAttends meetings with other contractors, clients, or A/E representatives to coordinate design and construction effortsProvides necessary building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials or equipmentObserves construction work performed in the field/ Participates in job walks and documents and reports findingsCreates and processes RFI'sUnderstands company's quality control plan and takes weekly photos to document any quality control issuesResearches and proposes solutions to quality control issuesResponsible for the review and maintenance of Quality Assurance/Quality Control Policies and ProceduresUnderstands company safety program and participates in safety inspectionsCreates specification checklistsReview submittals against specifications. Understands subcontractor job specifications and scope of workReviews mock-up and/or shop drawings and specificationsDemonstrates schedule understanding in coordination with construction logistics and construction sequencingUnderstands PCO process and minimal ability in identifying PCO/change ordersPerforms quantity takeoffsQualifications:Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projectsAbility to work in team environment and achieve team goalsAbility to work in a fast-paced, tight deadline-oriented environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills - articulate and diplomatic mannerAble to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasksAttention to detail and accuracy for all workAble to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential informationSelf-motivated and able to take responsibilityAble to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externallyComputer Skills-Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook requiredWorking Plan Swift, Procore, Plan Grid, Bluebeam, BIM360, and SageComfortable with Microsoft TeamsEducation/ Experience-Minimum 3 Years of Project Engineer ExperienceMust be able to read plans, or have background in plan readingBA in Engineering, Construction or related field is requiredExperience as an intern in construction industry is a plusWhy Join Bjork Construction Co.
