Buyer/Purchasing 4 Chillicothe, IL 18 months Job Description Summary: The main function of a buyer is to purchase machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies or services necessary for the operation of an establishment. A typical buyer is responsible for buying goods and services for use by their company or organization. A purchasing agent is responsible for the purchase of machinery, equipment, parts, or services necessary for the operation of an establishment.Job Responsibilities:Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.Skills:Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills.Strong ability to analyze financial reports, price proposals and other technical data.Strong ability to accurately document and record customer/client information.Strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to purchasing.Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.Strong knowledge of supply chain management.Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.Education/Experience:Bachelor's degree in finance or a related business field required.8-10 years finance related experience required.CPSM/CPPM/CPP (Certified Professional Supply Management; Certified Professional Purchasing Management; Certified Purchasing Professional) preferred.Position's Contributions to Work Group: Position will support execution of supplier resiliency projects and supplier performance improvement. Purpose for the role is to investigate and prioritize resiliency risks within the E&ES category team and support efforts to execute mitigating actions.Reason/motivation for request:AdditionFocused resource to drive resiliency project execution for the team.Typical task breakdown:Collaborate with engineering on key resiliency projects to support supplier quoting and development activities.Onboard and work with suppliers to improve performance metrics and build mitigation plans to reduce resiliency and capacity risks.Support pricing activities and invoice reconciliation with suppliers.Interaction with team: Significant team interaction. Collaborate both in person and electronically with coworkers and engineering business partners.Work environment: Office environmentEducation & Experience Required: Bachelor's degree or higher education in finance, engineering, supply chain, or related business field and 8+ years of experience requiredTechnical Skills (Required)Microsoft Suite Proficiency (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)Lognet and/or SAP system experience(Desired) CPSM, CPPM, CPP Procure experienceSoft Skills(Required)Strong communication and collaboration skillsSelf-driven work ethicStrong problem solving skills(Desired) Work hour flexibility to attend collaboration meetings outside normal work hours (Early AM or PM) to support global team project meetings
