Our mission is to consistently recruit, develop, and retain top talent in the industry.Position Summary:We are seeking a proactive and organized Human Resource Assistant to support our growing construction workforce. This position will take ownership of the recruiting and training functions, with a strong focus on sourcing skilled tradespeople and supporting employee development. The HR Assistant will also serve as a back-up to the Human Resource Manager on employee relations matters and help maintain a productive, compliant, and safety-focused work environment.Essential FunctionsRecruitment & Talent AcquisitionManage the full recruiting lifecycle for field and office positions"”including job postings, resume screening, phone interviews, and scheduling interviews with hiring managers.Actively source candidates through job boards, trade schools, and industry events.Represent the company at job fairs, apprenticeship expos, and local hiring events to attract quality construction talent.Build and maintain a pipeline of candidates for roles such as laborers, equipment operators, foremen, and project support staff.Coordinate pre-employment screening, reference checks, and onboarding tasks.Training & Workforce DevelopmentIdentify training needs for field and office employees, with an emphasis on safety, equipment operation, trade skills, and leadership development.Research and coordinate external and internal training opportunities that meet both regulatory requirements and company goals.Maintain training records and ensure certifications (e.g., OSHA, equipment operation) are up to date.Partner with supervisors and field leaders to support career growth and workforce readiness.HR Support & Employee RelationsServe as the back-up for the HR Manager on employee relations matters, including fielding concerns, documenting incidents, and helping resolve issues fairly and effectively.Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of employee relations.Support employee onboarding, orientation, and policy communication.Assist with general HR administration and compliance tasks as needed.Additional duties and projects as assigned.Qualifications:Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.1-3 years of HR or recruiting experience, preferably in a construction or skilled trades environment preferred.Proficiency in the use of AI and social media.Familiarity with construction roles, terminology, and workforce dynamics a strong plus.Strong communication and relationship-building skills, especially with field employees.Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities.Proficient with applicant tracking systems and basic HRIS tools.Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to job sites, career fairs, and training locations.Physical DemandsThis role is based in an office environment with regular interaction at job sites, training facilities, and community events. A willingness to occasionally wear PPE and understand field work conditions is important.The physical demands described here are a representation of those that must be met by an employee, with or without reasonable accommodation, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
