It includes programs like the 211 HelplineHousing for HealthFree Tax Preparation, and the Closed Loop Referral System"”working to ensure that individuals and families can access support when and where they need it most.Position SummaryUnited Way of Santa Cruz County is seeking a strategic and community-driven leader to serve as Director of Community Impact for United4Community. This role will lead the implementation and oversight of the United4Community initiative, including direct responsibility for the 211 program, coordination of key county service contracts such as the Housing for Healthinitiative, and supervision of several team members.The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who thrives in systems work, understands public-private partnerships, and is confident in managing platforms, handling confidential information, and preparing clear, compelling reports. This hybrid position requires regular travel across Santa Cruz County and occasional statewide travel for events, conferences, and community outreach.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership and Program OversightLead day-to-day management of 211 Santa Cruz County, including program development, evaluation, and strategic growth. ? More about 211: /211Direct contract-based programs such as Housing for Health, ensuring timely deliverables, strong partner relationships, and community-centered service.Align United4Community efforts with organizational strategic goals and broader systems change work.Staff and Project ManagementSupervise program staff, interns, and volunteers supporting 211 and county contracts.Create a supportive and effective work culture that prioritizes communication, innovation, and results.Build systems to track program performance, report outcomes, and address staff development needs.Platform and Data SystemsManage and optimize use of complex information systems (e.g., iCarol, Unite Us, or similar referral and case management tools).Ensure secure, compliant handling of confidential information across programs.Lead reporting processes for government contracts, funders, and internal tracking using quantitative and qualitative data.Community Engagement and AdvocacyRepresent UWSCC and United4Community at community events, countywide meetings, and statewide conferences.Coordinate tabling, resource fairs, and public outreach activities to increase awareness and program access.Build strategic relationships with nonprofits, local government, health agencies, and grassroots networks.Resource and Fund DevelopmentSupport the CEO and grant writing team with program narratives, budget development, and fundraising opportunities.Identify and contribute to new revenue opportunities through grants, contracts, and cross-sector partnerships.Manage program-specific budgets and ensure adherence to funding guidelines.QualificationsBachelor's degree in public health, social work, nonprofit leadership, or related field (Master's preferred); or equivalent experience.Bilingual PrefferedAt least 5 years of program management experience in a nonprofit, government, or health/social services agency.Experience with referral navigationhousing/health equity, or public information systemshighly desirable.Strong leadership, team management, and conflict resolution skills.Proficient in data platforms and tools such as iCarol, Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience writing reports, grant content, or impact summaries.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in both internal practices and external programs.Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.Valid CA driver's license and reliable transportation required; mileage reimbursed at IRS rates.Core CompetenciesAll UWSCC staff are expected to:Demonstrate a mission-driven mindset.Collaborate effectively with partners, colleagues, and community members.Uphold values of integrity, inclusiveness, and innovation.Prioritize results and continuous improvement.Represent the United Way brand with professionalism and purpose.Compensation & BenefitsSalary Range:$90,000 - $100,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.Benefits include:Medical, dental, and vision coverage403(b) retirement plan with employer contributionPaid vacation, sick leave, and holidaysMileage reimbursement for local and statewide travelTo ApplySubmit your resume and a cover letter outlining your experience and interest in the role to: ybrooks@ Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
