Job Title: Environmental Professional - Wastewater ManagementWhat we are looking for:A knowledgeable and detail-oriented Environmental Professional with a background in wastewater, chemistry, or a science-related field. This person will serve as a subject matter expert in wastewater management and support the environmental needs of the facility. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and helping maintain the safe and efficient operation of the wastewater system.Note: This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.Purpose of the Role:Manage and maintain systems related to water, waste, and contaminated materials.Ensure procedures follow Federal, State, and local environmental regulations.Support the Environmental Manager and work with various departments, vendors, and regulatory agencies.Key Responsibilities:Ensure compliance with EPA, IDEM, and local regulations related to wastewater, hazardous waste, solid waste, and stormwater.Interpret and apply environmental laws and requirements.Conduct and analyze lab tests, including calibrating lab equipment and maintaining accurate records.Develop, update, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for wastewater processes.Analyze wastewater data, including microscopic evaluations, to guide treatment decisions.Maintain chemical and supply inventory for the wastewater lab.Ensure the lab is clean, organized, and operating properly.Identify and support improvement projects to maintain compliance and reduce costs.Work with consultants, vendors, and contractors on environmental projects.Assist with regulatory reporting and permit applications.Submit service requests and monitor facility maintenance as needed.Communicate regularly with the management team and help train others when needed.Troubleshoot mechanical and system issues as they arise.Other duties as assigned.Leadership Approach:Lead by example and align with company values.Use data to make informed recommendations.Help guide improvement projects and support emergency response efforts.Assist in regulatory inspections and communications.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in environmental management, Chemistry, or a related science field.At least 3 years of experience in environmental compliance.Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.Working knowledge of wastewater treatment and chemistry.Ability to obtain a Class C Wastewater Operator licenseStrong written, verbal, and analytical skills.Preferred Experience:Background in the pulp and paper industry.Experience in leading teams or managing projects.Key Competencies:Ability to apply environmental compliance programs and meet company standards.Ability to train others using various methods and materials.Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.Effective communication with both small and large groups.Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies.
