Dalton Corporation's Warsaw facility is a gray iron foundry specializing in larger, highly complex parts with tight tolerance requirements ranging from 20-900 pounds. We strive to be the easiest foundry to do business with through versatility and flexibility in scheduling, delivery and processing.About the RoleOversee all aspects of production and repairs in the Pattern shop. Knowledge of gating patterns, pattern and core box technology, and knowledge of scrap defects and causes. Experience in greensand and molding, training in defect analysis, statistical process control, gating and risering. Experience gating patterns and working on scrap. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as QCL's, MSDS sheets, and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or supervisors.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDirect the activities of the Pattern Shop employeesTooling repairsMaintain pattern wear programMaintain records related to Pattern Shop activitiesBudget departmentResponsibilitiesProvide direction, guidance, motivation, and training to pattern shop employees.Evaluate scrap and make changes to improve quality.Establish work instructions, and procedures to ensure proper techniques are being utilized.Analyze data from reports generated and make recommendations for improvements.Evaluate casting and gating system and make changes to improve yield.Inventory and order materials for the pattern shop, so they have what is needed to do the job.Work with maintenance on issues in the Pattern Shop.Maintain tooling integrity via pattern wear program.Maintain Faro Arm dimensional program on stools, patterns, core boxes, and core setters.Use Lean/Six Sigma processes to recommend and implement improved methods and cost saving processes.Work with Sales and Pre-Production Engineering on tooling repairs to be charged to the customer.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
