This is onsite in Warren, MIDuration - 1 year.Pay rate - $55/hour on W2Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated engineer who is driven to deliver innovative products that enhance customer safety, quality, and performance. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who works effectively in a cross-functional environment and demonstrates strong leadership, technical problem-solving, and project management skills.The Design Release Engineer (DRE) is responsible for requirements definition, design execution, analysis, development, testing, validation, and release of components and systems throughout the product development lifecycle. This role involves managing engineering projects where creativity, initiative, and independent judgment are required. The DRE also provides technical leadership to product development teams consisting of engineers and engineering support personnel while coordinating suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design, development, validation, and release of components, subsystems, and systems Define and manage system and component requirements, specifications, and interface documentation Create and maintain technical documentation, engineering standards, and release records Develop and maintain subsystem/component technical specifications and engineering documentation Lead investigation, root cause analysis, and resolution of technical issues Capture and document lessons learned, best practices, design standards, and engineering updates within problem resolution tracking systems Coordinate cross-functional engineering activities with internal teams, suppliers, manufacturing, validation, and program management Lead and manage supplier activities, including timing, deliverables, and engineering support Support sourcing activities and supplier selection processes Generate technical solutions for current production, new development, and major engineering programs Perform design analysis, engineering evaluations, and technical trade-off studies Create and maintain engineering documentation, CAD/math data, and release information Support prototype builds, validation testing, product integration, and production launch activities Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to support product improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and issue resolution Validate component and system performance through testing, analysis, and verification activities Lead Product Development Team (PDT) meetings and provide technical project management support Ensure components and systems meet quality, cost, timing, performance, and manufacturability targets Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical field Minimum of 2+ years of related engineering experience Knowledge of product development and engineering release processes Understanding of system/component design principles and failure modes Experience developing and interpreting technical requirements and specifications Familiarity with testing, validation, and verification processes Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional teams Preferred QualificationsExperience with DFMEA or engineering risk assessment methodologies Experience with Engineering Change Management processes Validation and testing experience Familiarity with CAD tools and engineering documentation standards Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams Lean, Six Sigma, or DFSS certification preferred Experience supporting prototype builds, production launches, and issue resolution activities Experience designing or developing safety-critical systems/componentsGTech is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating a diverse environment.
