Our client - well-known, reputable and nationally active NYC-based law practice - seeks a motivated Real Estate Associate to work directly with a leading New York real estate attorney on landlord-side finance, acquisitions, sales, leasing, and related matters. The role offers hands-on experience with sophisticated, high-value deals and the opportunity to work closely with top developers, lenders, investors, and real estate entrepreneurs.Real Estate Attorney (Associate) - Landlord-Side Real Estate Finance Location: New York, NYPractice Area: Real Estate Transactions & Real Estate Litigation SupportReports To: Partner, Real Estate Practice(In office position/expectation)About The Role A New York-based real estate practice is seeking a highly motivated Real Estate Associate to support sophisticated landlord-side real estate finance transactions, acquisitions, sales, leasing, and related commercial real estate matters across the New York metropolitan market and beyond.This position offers hands-on experience with high-value transactions, direct mentorship from a seasoned real estate dealmaker, and exposure to a diverse client base of developers, lenders, investment groups, private investors, and real estate entrepreneurs.Key Responsibilities Transactional Work (Primary Focus) Draft, Review, And Negotiate Documentation For:Commercial real estate financing (acquisition, construction, project, and mezzanine).Landlord-side office, industrial, and retail leases.Purchase and sale agreements for high-value and net-leased assets.Joint ventures, operating agreements, and complex capital structures.Ground leases, loan workouts, and restructuring agreements.Deal Management & Support Assist in managing transactions from term sheet through closing, including:Diligence review (title, survey, zoning, environmental, organizational, financial).Coordinating communications among lenders, borrowers, brokers, title companies, engineers, and other stakeholders.Preparing closing checklists, binders, and managing post-closing matters.Real Estate Litigation Support (Secondary) Support matters such as foreclosures, contract disputes, and landlord-tenant litigation.Conduct legal research, draft motions, and assist with filings as needed.Professional Development & Learning Opportunities Associates Will Gain Experience In: High-stakes dealmaking with active developers, investors, and real estate professionals.Complex financing structures and cutting-edge commercial transactions.Practical, business-oriented legal analysis tied to current market activity.Building relationships across the real estate industry, including brokers, lenders, and operators.This role suits an attorney aiming to become a well-rounded real estate generalist with strong finance capabilities and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.Qualifications2-6 years of experience in real estate transactions at a law firm or real estate boutique.Strong drafting abilities and experience in at least one of the following:Commercial real estate financeCommercial leasingAcquisitions and dispositionsJoint ventures or ownership structuringFamiliarity with New York real estate practices preferred.Litigation exposure involving real estate is a plus.Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.Ability to manage multiple active matters and meet demanding deadlines.Client-focused mindset with responsiveness and attention to detail.Who Thrives In This Role Ideal candidates are:Deal-oriented, practical, and solution-driven.Comfortable taking responsibility early and communicating directly with clients.Interested in mentorship from a partner with deep market knowledge and industry relationships.Energized by high-value, fast-moving transactions and complex negotiations.Why This Opportunity Stands Out Direct mentorship from a senior real estate practitioner with decades of experience and a respected industry presence.Exposure to high-profile, sophisticated commercial real estate transactions.A collaborative, entrepreneurial environment offering meaningful responsibility.Involvement in both transactional and real estate litigation matters for well-rounded development.
