Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).Job Summary:Client is seeking a Research Scientist III to support the development of next-generation optoelectronic and organic materials for future AR/VR technologies. This role combines experimental materials science, laboratory automation, and hardware/software integration to streamline high-throughput experimental workflows.The ideal candidate will have strong experience working in laboratory environments while also being comfortable programming hardware interfaces and building automated experimental systems.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and automate workflows for experimental screening of organic materialsDevelop and analyze next-generation optoelectronic materialsProgram hardware interfaces using Python, LabVIEW, C, or similar languagesWork with DAQ systems, motion control systems, and communication protocols such as Serial/I2C/SPIPerform hands-on experimental laboratory work and bench-top testingDesign crystal growth, nucleation, and processing experimentsCollaborate with cross-functional research and engineering teamsAnalyze material properties and communicate findings through technical reportsSupport translation of research into practical Meta product applicationsRequired QualificationsPhD or Master's degree in:PhysicsChemistryOptical Science & EngineeringElectrical EngineeringOr related technical field5-7 years of relevant experienceStrong experience with hardware programming and automationExperience with laboratory experimentation and material analysisExperience in one or more of the following:Organic materialsCrystallizationNucleationSolid-state analysisOptoelectronic materialsAbility to work independently in a research-focused environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with:XRDSpectroscopyDSCOptical microscopyHPLC / LC-MS / UV-Vis / GCKnowledge of crystallographic software:CCDC SuiteOlex2ProfexBGMNExperience working with organic crystals and solubility analysisCAD software exposureStrong technical documentation and report-writing skillsPublications, patents, grants, or research fellowships preferredBenefits:BCforward offers all eligible employees a comprehensive benefits package including, but not limited to major medical, HSA, dental, vision, employer-provided group life, voluntary life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, and 401k.About BCforwardFounded in 1998 on the idea that industry leaders needed a professional service, and workforce management expert, to fuel the development and execution of core business and technology strategies, BCforward is a Black-owned firm providing unique solutions supporting value capture and digital product delivery needs for organizations around the world.
