Controller

Position OverviewThe Controller will oversee all aspects of the company's financial management, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role will provide leadership to the accounting team, partner with project managers and executives, and ensure accurate financial visibility into job costs, cash flow, and profitability. Candidates with construction or homebuilding experience will thrive, but we welcome strong financial leaders from across the industry who bring discipline, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger, and job cost accountingManage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reportingDevelop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections in coordination with leadershipPartner with project managers to monitor project financial performance, analyze variances, and support decision-makingEnsure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, and construction-specific reporting standardsMaintain relationships with external partners including banks, auditors, and insurance providersImplement and improve internal controls, financial systems, and reporting processesLead and mentor accounting staff to foster professional growth and accountabilityQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3+ in a leadership roleConstruction industry or homebuilding experience strongly preferred, but not requiredStrong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion methodsProficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar) and advanced Excel skillsExcellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skillsAbility to balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution
