We are committed to delivering high-impact drugs to patients that address critical unmet needs and improve health outcomes.About the RoleAN2 is seeking a Sr. Manager / Assistant Controller who will be responsible for oversight and direction of day-to-day accounting operations. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing the financial operations of the Company, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SEC requirements, supporting audits, and strengthening internal controls. We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with a "can do" hands-on approach, ability to prioritize and work within a small, experienced finance team. This position reports to the Corporate Controller.ResponsibilitiesOversee all aspects of accounting, including general ledger, purchasing and accounts payable, payroll, equity, etc.Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, including the strengthening of processes and procedures to ensure completeness, timeliness, and accuracy in financial reporting.Prepare and/or review monthly and quarterly journal entries, including entries related to clinical and preclinical R&D accruals, G&A accruals, cash and investments, prepaids, stock-based compensation expense and other ad hoc journal entries.Prepare and/or review for accurate and timely month-end balance sheet reconciliations.Lead the SEC reporting process, and prepare the Company's quarterly and annual financial statements.Oversee the payroll and stock plan administration function, including the review of the semi-monthly payroll and various equity transactions (including grants, exercises, RSU releases, ESPP offering periods, BSM inputs, etc.).Maintain and enhance internal controls necessary to monitor performance and comply with SOX 404, as required.Lead technical accounting analyses, including financial implications of proposed licensing and other contracts and transactions.Maintain knowledge of FASB pronouncements that impact the Company.Act as the primary liaison for the external auditors, prepare and coordinate all appropriate material for the quarterly reviews, interim procedures, and annual audits.Oversee government and other grant contracts, including invoicing, indirect/overhead rate analyses, and other required reports, as required.Oversee quarterly tax analysis, the federal, state, and local tax return preparation, and the annual tax provision.Provide support for Disclosure Committee, Audit Committee and Board presentations as needed.Develop staff in general accounting and accounts payable.Maintain current understanding of the Company's business and operations.Drive process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce costs, and other projects, as determined.QualificationsBA in Accounting or Finance; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred.8+ years of progressive accounting experience.Mix of public accounting and private biotech/pharmaceutical company experience.Strong technical expertise in the areas of SEC reporting, including 10-Qs and 10-Ks and XBRL tagging of related content, and financial accounting; prior experience with public company reporting is required.Broad knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.Experience with SOX 404(a) compliance.Demonstrated success leading and mentoring a team.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.Ability to think strategically and still maintain attention to detail and accuracy.Familiar and comfortable working in a small company, able to work remotely with all functions in the organization.Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (i.e. NetSuite), EEO, Cube, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.Pay range and compensation packageAN2 anticipates that the annual base salary for the Sr. Manager / Assistant Controller position could range from between $160,000 - 175,000. Annual salary will depend, in part, on the successful candidate's credentials and the identified role, including education, qualifications, and type as well as length of experience. Any salary offered is also based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, and the position's wage range. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in a performance-based bonus and stock programs, various benefits offerings, including, but not limited to, medical, dental and vision insurance, disability, life insurance, 401k retirement savings plan, and flexible paid vacation.AN2 Therapeutics is based in Menlo Park, CA, but employees work remotely from home.
