This position will exercise their strong expertise on construction, fabric, and development techniques that are unique to elevated and/or contemporary customers. The Senior Developer will be able to lead the product development process from concept through production for a large amount of SKU counts, while also leading a team to improve overall processes. Major Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Support the Product Development Director and team to allocate, source and develop high quality product on monthly basisUtilize expert problem solving skills to address any issue that does ariseBe the main point of contact/communicator of changes and alerts cross-functional departments (Buyers, R&D, Design, Tech and Purchasing)Assist in creation and implementation of product development calendarsManage multiple brands or categories to oversee product development from concept through TOP stage for Domestic and/or Import segmentsIndependently negotiate, set and approve target FOB costs and retails and ensure margins are maintainedCall out margin or development challenged styles in high level meetings (assortment review/line preview) and provide solutionsMaintain vendor capacities and independently allocate product against manufacturers for the best possible executionLead and monitor WIPs for all product stages for multiple brands or categories for a fast-paced calendarTravel to overseas vendors to expedite product and improve processesIdentify problem areas and provide viable solutionsEffectively collaborate with cross-functional team members and overseas and/or domestic vendorsCollaborate with 3D fitting and patternmaking processSupport the evolving PD processes and leading workshops and training for lower level PD team membersConduct market research of competitors to identify target costs and new techniques/materials in the marketAttend fittings to ensure product is on time, quality is elevated and cost parameters are metSupport the evolving PD processes and leading workshops and training for lower level PD team membersAbility to introduce new manufacturers and materials into existing matrixCultivate and develop Assistants/Associates which includes refining their development processLead on approvals and/or meetings in lieu of the Production Development Manager's absenceComplete ad-hoc tasks and assignments as directed by managementCompetencies: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Possess knowledge in garment construction and specifications specially in active and swim categories. Strong knowledge of product life cycle and calendar deadlinesStrong knowledge of fabric, trims, quality and developmentsStrong knowledge of garment construction and finishingStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and leadership skillsStrong analytical and decision making skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsMust be able to thrive in a fast paced environment and short lead calendar (5 months)Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to ensure deliveries are metStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong ability to lead, manage and train multiple lower level designers and multiple brand categoriesProactive, self-motivated, advanced knowledge of how to delegate and still meet deadlines with "get it done" attitudeStrong attention to detail and mistakes and problem solving skillsStrong leadership skillsMust be able to able and willing to lift and carry up to 10 lbs., perform frequent repetitive finger, hand and wrist motions, as well as bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pullingMust be able to sit for extended periods of timeMinimum Qualifications: Minimum 8+ years' experience in similar role1+ year in a managerial or leadership roleIn depth experience of Product Development for both Domestic and ImportDegree in Apparel Manufacturing, Product Development, Apparel Design or similar fieldMust have leadership or management experience and the ability to lead a growing teamProficient in Adobe Illustrator and PhotoshopMust be able to perform efficiently with tight deadlinesGoal drivenExperience with traveling to vendors/factories overseasPreferred Qualifications: Utilize positive past vendor relationship and resourcesIn depth knowledge of textiles, sourcing and developmentAbility to travel overseas once or twice a yearA successful candidate works well in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision. Each day is a little different, it's what keeps us on our toes and excited to come to work every day. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $90,000 to $95,000 per year.
