Electrical Estimator

About the JobRedwood Electric Group is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This role involves analyzing project requirements, interpreting construction drawings, and developing detailed takeoffs while working closely with project managers, vendors, and field teams. Our success is rooted in our commitment to customer satisfaction, innovation, and a team dedicated to exceeding expectations.Duties/Responsibilities:Review project documentation including plans, specifications, and addenda to understand scope and requirementsPerform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical systems such as power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltageDevelop labor and material pricing based on historical data, vendor quotes, and production ratesUse Accubid to build and maintain accurate estimates; support digital takeoff and markup using BluebeamSolicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors; build and maintain strong vendor relationshipsPrepare bid packages and proposals with comprehensive cost breakdowns and scope clarificationsCoordinate with project managers, engineering teams, and field personnel to ensure continuity between estimate and project executionParticipate in internal bid reviews and project hand-off meetingsTrack cost history and maintain organized documentation to support future bids and process improvementStay current on industry trends, market conditions, and code changes that may impact cost or design assumptionsRequired Skills/Abilities:Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentationFamiliarity with national electrical codes and standard installation practicesHigh level of attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication for collaboration across departments and with external partnersProficient in Microsoft Excel and PDF editing software; experience with Bluebeam and Accubid preferredAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressureProfessional, courteous, and responsive in both internal and external communicationsSelf-driven and proactive with a commitment to learning and developmentEducation and Experience:High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training in construction, electrical technology, or related field preferred2-3 years of estimating experience in the electrical or construction industry preferredPrior experience using estimating software such as Accubid strongly preferredFamiliarity with construction management platforms and tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Revit, or CAD) is a plusWorking ConditionsThis position is based in our Santa Clara office and is not eligible for remote work.Work may be performed in an office or on active job sites, depending on role and project needs.Office work includes sitting, typing, and using a computer for extended periods.Field environments may involve walking, standing, bending, or lifting materials (up to 30 lbs).Noise levels range from quiet (office) to high (job sites).May require occasional travel to project locations or meetings.REG will provide reasonable accommodations as required by the ADA and applicable state law.DisclaimerThe duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the work typically performed in this role but are not intended to be a comprehensive list.
