Our Plant Utility Assistants help support hope and recovery for adults with serious mental illness and children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances.Plant Utilities Assistants at GBHC:Monitor equipment and perform preventative maintenancePerform minor repairs to equipment as neededClean mechanical roomsRead and record meter readingsIf you would like to join the GBHC Team and contribute to a workforce dedicated to public service, we offer a generous benefits package including:NYS medical, dental, and vision insuranceTuition Assistance programs availableExcellent opportunities for advancement and professional growthPaid time off including vacation, holidays, personal, & sick leaveNYS Retirement programsMinimum Qualifications:Graduate of heating, HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration apprenticeship program from the U.S. Air Force; orEnlisted machinery technician (MK) with the U.S. Coast Guard or possession of a certificate as a Marine Engineer issued by the U.S. Coast Guard; orEnlisted power generation equipment repairer with the U.S. Army; orEnlisted gas turbine systems technician, submarine nuclear propulsion plant operator reactor control, utilities man, machinist mate, or engineman with the U.S. Navy; orMerchant Mariner's Document (MMD) and qualified member of the engine department (QMED) as an oiler, fireman/water tender, refrigerating engineer or engineman with the U.S. Merchant Marine; orCompletion of a New York State Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program for stationary engineers, plant maintenance (plumber/steamfitter), HVAC Mechanic or plant maintenance (refrigeration/AC); orPossession of a High-Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer License or Stationary Engineer License; orBachelor's degree in Facilities Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Marine Engineering; orAssociate's degree in HVAC; or1 year of full-time hands on experience in the maintenance and operation of commercial, industrial, institutional facility, computer applications of digital energy platforms and building analytics and/or performing diagnosis, repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment; or1 year of full-time hands on experience in a residential setting performing diagnosis, operation, maintenance repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment; orCompletion of an HVAC certificate or diploma from a BOCES program (440 hours) OR completion of an approved certificate in HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, boiler operations and maintenance, or plumbing from an accredited technical school or technology college.Come to our Job Fair to learn more about careers that make a difference:Greater Binghamton Health Center - Keeler Building425 Robinson StBinghamton, NY 13904Friday - 10/3 10:00am - 4:00pmSaturday - 10/4 10:00am - 2:00pmThe Mission of the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is to promote the mental health of all New Yorkers, with a focus on providing hope and supporting recovery for adults with serious mental illness and children with serious emotional disturbances.
