Under general supervision within South Carolina Legal Services, performs complex secretarial and administrative duties requiring considerable exercise of independent judgment in various areas. Provides systems, building, and equipment maintenance. Manage petty cash, client trust, and litigation accounts.Serves as a liaison supervisor for clerical employees and provides assistance and guidance as needed, under the direction of the Managing Attorney. Assists legal staff in carrying out their program responsibilities by providing legal clerical assistance, typing, and related technical support of moderate to considerable diversity and scope. May supervise a small staff of support staff under the direction of the Managing Attorney. Performs other related work as required. May have to work some evenings and weekends.A more detailed job description is available upon request.ResponsibilitiesAssists with gaining entrance and operation of SCLS network, computer programs and software (see additional under Section #6, page 3); Ensures that the front desk receptionist area is staffed during office hours, summer vacations, etc. Supervises the delivery and distribution of the program mail to ensure that it is properly date stamped and delivered to the appropriate person;Coordinate and, if necessary, participate in the pickup of mail from the post office in the mornings and the delivery of mail to the post office in the afternoons;Weekly monitoring of clerical staff to ensure that clerical staff do not exceed 37.5 hours during a work week without prior approval from Managing Attorney and Executive Director;Ensures that the front desk staff answers the telephone cheerfully and professionally;Creates, trains, and shares templates on routine letters and documents;Demonstrates the importance of integrity, honor and respect toward others, including clients;Assists support staff, if needed, with prioritizing tasks that require simultaneous attention;QualificationsGraduation from an accredited Business School or satisfactory completion of post-high school course work in an accredited office administration program or closely related curriculum plus four years of office and administrative experience.Work in a legal environment is preferred but not required.Excellent typing, filing, and other secretarial skillsExcellent organizational skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skillsExcellent computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft OfficeAbility to workGood Driving Record
