This role is key to shaping projects at the earliest stages, ensuring our proposals are accurate, competitive, and aligned with client goals. You'll work closely with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors while having a direct impact on the success of both preconstruction and construction operations.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPreconstruction & CollaborationPartner with the Preconstruction Manager and Operations team to deliver accurate, timely estimates.Lead or participate in meetings with owners, architects, and engineers during design and preconstruction.Distribute project documents and coordinate communications with internal and external stakeholders.Estimating & Cost ManagementPrepare conceptual, budget, and detailed estimates for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for multiple delivery methods (design-build, plan/spec, negotiated).Lead bid efforts - solicit subcontractor proposals, evaluate scope coverage, and assemble competitive bids.Identify cost risks, opportunities, and creative solutions to support project goals.Estimate change orders and analyze cost-to-date on active projects; review actual costs on completed projects to improve future estimates.Value & InnovationProactively identify value engineering ideas and alternates to enhance constructability and reduce costs.Collaborate with design teams to evaluate drawings and propose cost-effective solutions.Relationships & LeadershipBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, trade partners, and suppliers.Represent S.C. Hondros as a trusted advisor in preconstruction, ensuring proposals align with client expectations and company standards.Ideal Qualifications:5+ years of commercial estimating experience (projects $1M - $15M).Deep knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and building systems.Experience with conceptual estimating.Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.Familiarity with value engineering and cost-saving strategies.Skilled at seeing both the big picture and the details.Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (not required).Why Join S.
