We operate a range of programs including:A network of Greenmarkets, Farmstands, and GrowNYC Wholesale to ensure access to fresh, local foodCommunity and school garden support through volunteer days, technical assistance, training, and grantsEnvironmental education programs reaching over 70,000 children annuallyPosition SummaryGrowNYC is seeking a Labor and Employee Relations Coordinator (LERC) to support interactions and negotiations between management and employee representatives, specifically for labor unions. This role ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), supports issue resolution across departments, and maintains documentation related to labor relations. The LERC also contributes to the development and implementation of organizational policies, handbooks, and codes of conduct.Key ResponsibilitiesUnion and Employee RelationsServe as liaison between HR and union representativesFacilitate communication regarding employee concerns, policy changes, and contract negotiationsInterpret and ensure compliance with union agreementsTrain leaders on grievance procedures; prepare leaders for hearings and assist with grievance responsesCoordinate and participate in labor management meetings and grievance hearingsInvestigate grievances and complaints; maintain grievance data and monitor trendsMeet with employees and leaders on performance concernsStay current on labor laws and ensure organizational complianceConduct SOP training and respond to union-related inquiriesEnsure adherence to CBAs and internal policiesReporting and Data Management Draft disciplinary and adverse action documentationPrepare and distribute remittance reports and worker eligibility rostersOrganize and maintain employee relations case filesPrepare reasonable accommodation documentationRecord grievance decisions and adjudicationsSupport HR team with various projects as neededQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum 2 years of experience in employee relations or interviewing/investigations within a unionized workforce Demonstrated ability to build relationships and negotiate with union representativesAt least 2 years of relevant HR experienceStrong conflict resolution, communication, and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of employment laws and standardsProficiency in HRIS systems, Google Suite, Excel, and other applicationsAbility to remain composed in sensitive situationsAbility to be seated for extended periodsPreferred QualificationsPHR or SPHR certificationBachelor's degree in Human ResourcesExperience with grievance procedures and collective bargainingBenefits & Pay:Salary: $60,000–$70,000 annually Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, incentive savings plan, paid time off, Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility, FSA programs, parental leave, 401KThis position is non-union eligible and not part of the bargaining unitGrowNYC is an Affirmative Action Equal Opportunity Employer and hires without regard to race, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or physical disability.Gallagher's HR & Organizational effectiveness team provides expert guidance and hands-on support in HR, Recruiting, and Payroll to help organizations stay focused on achieving their strategic business goals.
