Job Title: Area Director of People & Culture Compensation: $130K-$150K + 25% BonusLocation: Clifton Park, NY (Onsite)Email your Word document resume to HeatherS@ and reference the subject as Area Director of People & Culture NYAbout the RoleOur client, a national leader in the distribution industry, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Area Director of People & Culture to lead and support HR strategy and operations across a key regional market. This highly visible and hands-on role requires a strategic thinker who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments. The ideal candidate is a confident HR partner who can seamlessly collaborate with senior leaders while staying grounded in day-to-day HR execution.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as a strategic business partner to area and regional leadership, aligning HR initiatives with operational goals and cultural values.Lead HR support across multiple functions and locations, ensuring consistency and compliance in all areas of HR, including:Workforce planning and staffingEmployee engagement and culture initiativesEmployee and labor relationsCompensation guidanceUnion interactions (where applicable)Conduct complex employee relations investigations and guide leaders on performance management and compliance.Participate in strategic meetings with executive leadership to influence business decisions from an HR perspective.Support the execution of key talent initiatives including succession planning, performance reviews, and workforce development.Champion culture-building programs and ensure continuous improvement in engagement efforts through actionable follow-ups from survey insights.Provide guidance on organizational changes, restructures, and risk mitigation strategies, including workforce reduction analysis if necessary.Partner with centralized HR teams and Centers of Excellence to implement new policies, programs, and initiatives.Lead and mentor HR professionals within the area, ensuring high performance, professional development, and alignment with business needs.Roll up your sleeves and support onsite needs: from setting up employee events to walking the warehouse floor or riding along with drivers to understand day-to-day operations.Who You AreA seasoned HR leader with at least 7 years of progressive HR experience, including labor relations and direct management of HR teams.Equally comfortable in the boardroom and on the warehouse floor "” approachable, adaptable, and ready to get involved wherever needed.Proficient in employee relations strategy and experienced in union environments.Skilled in influencing senior leadership while fostering trust across all levels of the organization.Able to work independently with minimal administrative support and manage multiple competing priorities.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field (or equivalent experience)Proven experience supporting multi-site or distributed workforcesDemonstrated ability to advise on complex employee relations and labor mattersValid driver's license with clean driving recordPHR or SPHR certification strongly preferredWork Environment & TravelThis role is primarily based in Clifton Park, NY, with some travel (approximately 10%) to other locations and employee events within the area.Willingness to work in both office and warehouse environments, including the need to wear safety gear as required.Email your Word document resume to HeatherS@ and reference the subject as Director of People & Culture NY
