Chief Estimator

As Chief Estimator / Estimating Manager, you will lead the estimating department for a well-established general contractor, overseeing all preconstruction efforts and ensuring accurate, competitive, and strategic bids across a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial projects. This leadership role is pivotal in shaping the company's growth and profitability through disciplined cost analysis, process development, and team mentorship.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the estimating team, including training and mentoring junior estimatorsOversee the preparation of conceptual and detailed cost estimates for all project phasesReview plans, specifications, and bid documents to ensure complete scope coverageDevelop and maintain historical cost data and unit pricing databasesCoordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients during preconstructionAnalyze subcontractor bids and ensure competitive pricing and scope alignmentEstablish and refine estimating procedures, tools, and workflowsParticipate in bid strategy meetings and final proposal reviewsEnsure quality and consistency in all estimate submissionsRepresent us in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and client presentationsQualifications8+ years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership roleProven track record in commercial, institutional, and industrial constructionProficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, Timberline, or similar)Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and market pricingExcellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skillsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
