Pipefitter/Welder Apprentice

As a Pipefitter/Welder Apprentice, you will work within the fabrication shop to prefabricate mechanical piping systems that are installed on commercial and industrial construction projects. Applicant must have MIG and FLUX Core Experience. TIG is a plus. Job DutiesFabricate piping systems for mechanical installations for use on commercial/industrial construction projectsRead blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work including locations, quantities, and material specsSelects type and size of pipe, related materials, and equipment according to specificationsCuts, threads, bends, and assembles the pipesPrepare, cut, fabricate, layout, fit, position, and assemble piping components together in various positionsBolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for weldingInstall hangers, supports, valves, and components according to piping system plans and specificationsPerform leak tests to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systemsOperate forklifts and overhead cranesHoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipmentMaintain a safe and clean work environmentAble to work from ladders and man lifts at various heightsPerform other related duties or special projects, as assignedRequirementsOSHA 10 certification preferred (company will provide if needed)Ability to stand, squat, bend, stoop, and comfortably lift up to 50 lbsAbility to pass a full background screening, MVR, and drug screeningAdditional RequirementsTrade school or higherMaintain a positive, cooperative, and teachable attitudeInitiative; self-motivated (driven), self-starterComplies and promotes company Safety PolicySpecific vision abilities required by this job include clear vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more, depth perception, and color visionMust be able to fulfill the essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and a safe mannerExposure to moving mechanical partsRegular and punctual attendance.
