What We're Looking ForThe Lab Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the laboratory. This position is a subject matter expert and works with Departmental Supervisors to manage lab operations throughput to ensure turnaround times are met while maintaining data quality that meets or exceeds industry standards. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for promoting a safe working culture and environment throughout the laboratory. This position reports to the President.What You Will DoProfitably manages the day-to-day operation of the laboratory in line with budget targets and Group objectives focusing on analysis quality and sample throughputEnsures effective laboratory operations, including housekeeping, safety, quality assurance, security, and environmental practicesIs a subject matter expert in the area of organic/inorganic analytical environmental chemistryWorks with client services to resolve technical and service issuesWorks with service group supervisors to manage staff and instrumentation resources to maximize sample throughput and ensures that turnaround times are metImplements best practices in the laboratory to maximize operational efficiency and maintains data quality that meets or exceeds industry standardsDemonstrates good leadership through effective planning, delegating and empowering subordinates appropriately, and leading by example. Manages people and performance daily, acting quickly and decisively when required.Ensures staffing levels are appropriate for sample volumes and that staff are properly trained to perform their assigned dutiesComplies with company policies and all applicable SOPs; complies with ISO 17025, cGMPs, cGLPs and Quality Control GuidelinesIs responsible for buying appropriate services and equipment that are best suited to meet the needs of the laboratoryEnsures the lab's consumables inventory is appropriate for current work loadsManage root cause analysis and OOS investigationsMonitors the quality of data and ensures that the lab's QA objectives are met on timeSupervise, delegate and review analytical activities ensuring all work schedules are planned and workflows meet timelinesPerforms regular in-department visits throughout the laboratoryWorks in conjunction with the functional support groups to ensure a proactive and planned approach to budgets, human resource planning and the use of analytical instrumentation and information technologyMaintains a sound understanding of EHS management techniques and the commitment to deliver EHS performance that meets the expectations of EagleActively promotes good housekeeping and safe use of equipmentParticipates in incident investigations involving their department personnelPerforms other duties as required.10% travel to customersWho You ArePh.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Related with at least 10 years (or MS with at least 15 years) of directly relevant experience (excluding graduate research) in GMP environment, preferably pharmaceutical product analysis. Minimum 5 years of progressive laboratory management experience is required.Subject matter expert in inorganic/organic environmental chemistryMinimum of 5-7 years of team management experience in an FDA-regulated contract laboratory or biotechnology & pharmaceutical company with progressive levels of responsibility are required.Expert with pharmaceutical chemistry testing and related equipment/instrument. This includes hands-on experience in USP compliant chemistry testing procedures for pharmaceuticals.Impressive, demonstrable track record and skills/experience gained within a similar position(s), at a similar level.Some knowledge and understanding of financial statements and operating budgets requiredStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are a requirement of this position. Must have a solid understanding of process and workflow.Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)Previous experience with LIMS is requiredActively promotes a strong culture of safe laboratory practices and the maintenance of a safe working environmentIs a dependable and reliable individual; whose daily presence adds to the success of the organizationFollows instructions independently, with little or no supervision.Designs optimal solutions for problems and works with others in solving large complex problems.Exhibits excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to effectively present information and responds to questions from individuals and/or groups both within the organization or while representing the organization.Has excellent time management skills which includes the ability to balance multiple projects concurrently (with different deadlines) and arranges the resources necessary to accomplish them.Is knowledgeable about a wide range of environmental testing protocols, regulations and certificationsPhysical RequirementsThis position involves access to controlled substances and as such anyone who has been convicted of a felony or within the past two years any misdemeanor, or is currently charged with committing a criminal offense, is not eligible and will not be considered.
