Project Engineer

General SummaryJohn Moriarty & Associates of Virginia (JMAV) is seeking a full-time Project Engineer (PE) to support construction project execution from preconstruction through closeout in the DC-Metro area. The PE will assist with scheduling, procurement, subcontractor coordination, document management, and project logistics.The PE should be located within daily driving distance of the DC-Metro area and can expect to travel between different jobsites as needed.Please do not reapply if you have already applied to the July Project Engineer job posting.Roles & Responsibilities:The Project Engineer will work closely with the PM and site team on a wide range of tasks, including:Management of assigned trades in all facets of preconstruction to include quantity take-offs, preparation of bid packages, and buy-outOversee performance of assigned trades, including project status, schedule, cost control, change management systems, and maintain relationships with clients, designers, and consultantsSupporting the creation and maintenance of project schedulesAssisting with submittals, RFIs, and change order processingCoordinating project documentation and digital recordsCommunicating with subcontractors and vendorsEducation:4-year degree required in Construction Management or related fieldWork Experience: 3-5 years of experience required, in commercial construction is preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Strong critical thinking and proactive problem-solving abilitiesHighly organized with attention to detailEffective communicator and team collaboratorStrong multitasking and decision-making skillsAbility to travel daily across DC-Metro area jobsitesProficiency in Microsoft Office and construction platformsPhysical Requirements:Moderate physical activity; driving, walking rough terrain, climbing stairs/laddersWork Environment:Onsite, outdoor work in all weather conditions; moderate to loud noise exposureThe Company:John Moriarty & Associates of Virginia (JMAV) is a privately held general contractor that specializes in large-scale, urban, ground-up projects such as mixed-use, multi-family, hotels, senior living, student housing, and bio-medical in the DC-Metro area.
