Experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Wildish Standard Paving Co., Portland, OregonWildish Standard Paving Co. is a division of the Wildish group of companies headquartered in Eugene, Oregon, with a satellite location in Fairview, Oregon. We perform heavy civil projects both large and small, specializing in excavation, grading, and bridges, and serve clients throughout Oregon. This position is based in Fairview.REPORTS TOEquipment Manager and General SuperintendentPRIMARY FUNCTION:Diagnose and repair broken or malfunctioning mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components of equipment. Maintain a variety of wheeled, tracked and/or stationary construction-related equipment.Physical/Mental Requirements:StrengthCapable of routinely pushing and pulling hand-operated levers, depressing foot operated pedals and/or turning steering wheels for mechanical and hydraulic systems; routinely removing and installing components weighing up to 30 pounds; occasionally removing and installing components between 50 -70 pounds; occasionally swinging a 20-pound hammer or bar; driving a utility vehicle; wearing personal protective equipment.FlexibilityCapable of walking on uneven, slick, loose and/or broken surfaces; climbing onto and off equipment; squatting, kneeling, reaching, bending at the waist and/or lying on back and sides while making repairs.DexterityCapable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously (e.g., holding a component in place while turning a wrench, operating left and right hand controls and left and right foot pedals).Respiratory CapacityCapable of wearing a respiratory protection device while working in hazardous atmospheric conditions.EnduranceCapable of performing assigned duties for eight or more hours at a time in hot, cold, daylight, nighttime, wet or dusty environments, and in noisy or jarring conditions.Responsiveness: Capable of identifying through sight, sound, smell and/or touch, and reacting quickly to, hazardous situations.CommunicationCapable of verbally asking questions, responding to questions, relaying information, and responding to and alerting others of hazardous situations.MentalCapable of understanding and following instructions; solves problems presented by unexpected equipment conditions; recognizes and follows common safety practices.The above listing of primary functions and physical/mental requirements are a general guide. Pay: $52.55 per hour plus fringe pay of $17.15 per hour. Wildish is signatory to the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 701.
