Job Description

Role and ResponsibilitiesIndependently design synthetic strategies and use those strategies to synthesize and characterize precursor compounds, starting materials, intermediates, reference compounds, and new chemical entitiesDesign small-molecule drug candidates based on in vitro and in vivo biological activity, ADME/PK, physicochemical and IP-relevant data.Purify and characterize molecules with standard analytical techniques (e.g. HPLC, LCMS, NMR)Use computation and structural data and information to design moleculesPerform research and/or development in collaboration with others in chemistry and biology; make detailed observations and analyzes data. Prepare batch records, technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses Write and review manuscripts for publicationProvide support in corporate research and development of patent applicationsDevelop strategies to ensure effective achievement of scientific objectivesUses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining resultsQualifications and Education RequirementsPhD in Chemistry plus 5+ years of related experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry or equivalent.Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistryMust possess expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts.A solid understanding of modern analytical techniques (NMR, HPLC, MS)Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary teamPreferred SkillsExperience in designing and synthesizing PROTACs or molecular glues is strongly preferredMolecular modeling and computational methodsAble to manage outside vendor collaborationsFlexibility and willingness to solve problems that fall outside of immediate area of expertiseWork independently in an interdisciplinary, fast-paced, often changing environment.Committed to the values of integrity, accountability, transparency, and drive.Local candidates only. Salary Range: $160,000 to $195,000
