Job Title: Heavy Civil EstimatorLocation: Bellingham, MAEmployment Type: Full-TimeSalary Range: Flexible / Commensurate with experienceAbout the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Heavy Civil Estimator to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals for large-scale civil infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, utilities, earthwork, and site development. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and able to collaborate across teams to ensure competitive and accurate bids.Key ResponsibilitiesReview project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.Quantify and price labor, materials, and equipment for heavy civil construction projects.Analyze subcontractor and vendor bids for scope, accuracy, and competitiveness.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to gather input for accurate estimates.Develop bid strategies and prepare proposals that align with company goals and client expectations.Identify risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options to enhance bid competitiveness.Maintain historical cost data and unit pricing databases for use in future bids.Participate in pre-bid meetings, client presentations, and negotiations as required.Assist with project handoff and support field operations during initial project setup.QualificationsPrevious estimating experience in heavy civil construction (years flexible depending on candidate).Strong knowledge of civil construction means and methods, including earthwork, concrete, and utilities.Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar) a plus.Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and negotiation abilities.Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with experience (flexible).Performance-based bonuses and incentive opportunities.Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, retirement, etc.).Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
