Estimator

Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator to support and lead the pre-construction and bidding process for underground utilities and highway projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure competitive and successful bids. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a deep understanding of roadway construction practices.Key Responsibilities:Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimatesPerform quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and pricing for materials, labor, and equipmentCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to gather accurate pricing and scope informationIdentify potential risks, safety considerations, and constructability issues during pre-bid analysisDevelop and maintain unit cost databases and historical cost recordsPrepare bid proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation in line with project requirementsAttend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and interact with clients as requiredProvide support during project handoff to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to construction teamsMonitor industry pricing trends and provide input on cost control strategiesRequirements:Ability to read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contract documentsStrong knowledge of excavation, grading, and roadway construction processesProficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office SuiteEffective verbal and written communication abilities with attention to detailCapable of calculating quantities, understanding grades/elevations, and identifying cost impactsTeam-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindsetDemonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and customer service in a fast-paced environmentMust be dependable, punctual, and adaptable to shifting project demandsAdditional Notes:Willingness to travel to job sites or pre-bid meetings as requiredFlexibility to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneouslyGenerous salary and benefits
