A community services organization in New York City is looking to add a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join their growing team at one of their group homes in Brooklyn and Queens.About the Opportunity:Schedule: Monday to FridayHours: FlexibleSetting: Article 16 Clinic / Group HomesPatient Population: Adults (Ages 18+)EMR: PrecisionCareResponsibilities:Review medical records, verify MD's orders and the Occupational therapist's assessment prior to implementing OT treatmentCommunicate with supervisor regarding persons receiving services in the areas of cognitive/perceptual skills, sensor-motor, musculoskeletal status, CNS status, the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment needsIntegrate input from persons receiving services, family, and direct care staff in treatmentWrite specific, objective, and measurable documentation,Provide training to persons receiving services, families and/or direct care staff in specific supportive programsParticipate and attend care plan/team meetings as needed for persons receiving OT servicesImplement a treatment plan, generated by the OT, including ROM, therapeutic exercise, cognitive/perceptual re-training, ADL, wheelchair mobility, pre-vocational skills, and application of physical agent modalities: hot packs, cold packs, and paraffinPerform other duties, as neededQualifications:Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy schoolNYS Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) licenseDesired Skills:Experience with Wheelchair assessmentExperience working with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
