ObjectiveThe role of a Field Service Technician is to be responsible for servicing automation equipment at the customers' facilities. Travel will be 50 - 70%The focus will be onResolving customer issuesIncreasing customer loyaltyDeveloping new customer relationshipsWorking to meet the revenue goals of the service department.When the Field Service Technician is not performing service work in the field, they will be integrated into the assembly group where they will develop a deeper knowledge of BBS custom automated machines. This will enable them to become subject matter experts so they can support our customers throughout the life cycle of their systems.ResponsibilitiesCustomer ServicePerform customer training and correspond with customers via email, phone, instant messaging/video calls.Troubleshoot mechanical equipment at the customer's facility by diagnosing problems and making the necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to the appropriate running status.Review/suggest additional tools or equipment necessary to better operate or maintain customer equipment.Make recommendations to repair or replace only items that require repairing or replacing.Recommended spare parts customers should have on hand.Complete detailed service report for the services provided daily and submit it to the service manager.Ensure customer issues have been resolved through follow-up communication and customer sign-off of service report, and/or project/case closure if required.TravelMust have a valid driver's license and a valid passportTravel to both domestic and international customer locationsDomestic travel up to 3 weeks at a timeInternational travel up to 5 weeks at a time.Travel notice can be given in as little as 1 day time.Organizational SkillsOrganize and plan out daily activities for the team members that have been assigned to them.Provide estimated assembly and build time for each given project (budget and schedule)Responsible for keeping up with current products and equipment used at BBS Chicago.Work with the technical writer to provide machine information for the op manual.Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.LeadershipExperience working independently or as part of a team.Ability to communicate in a written and verbal manner effectively.Lead on-site team and liaise with customers and BBS Service Manager.Good Time management skills.Build DetailsStrong understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, debugging and building of pneumatic leak test circuits.Strong background in checking alignment of tooling, functionality and positioning of sensors, and levelling of equipment.Ability to read drawings, reference manuals and systems instruction guides with no assistance.QualificationsEducationA post-secondary diploma, degree, or certificate of qualification specializing in mechanical engineering, Tool & Die Maker, Millwright, MTBI, or equivalent.
