Mass spectrometry is a gold-standard chemical analysis tool, but it remains limited in utility due to the complex workflows associated with going from raw sample to analysis. Our flagship product, the DynaCHIP, enables simple, on-demand mass spectrometric analysis with easy-to-use interfaces that democratize mass spectrometry from lab to market.Andson Biotech was spun out of Georgia Tech and is supported by Y Combinator and Merck Digital Sciences Studio. Apply even if you aren't a perfect fit - we can't know you're awesome unless we meet you.Job DescriptionWe're seeking a self-motivated software engineer capable of working quickly with our hardware engineering team to develop a streamlined Currently, we have a commercially viable product and are looking to deploy the first 10 units. This engineer will support the current units used for application development and external demos as well as customer deployed units. Ideally, you are excited at the idea of building a tool that lots of people can use to do great science.We expect the ideal candidate to have extensive experience in Python and breadboarding for prototypes. Experience putting together user interfaces and integrating UIs with python or other "more robust" codes for front-end applications is a must. We need the candidate to "hit the ground running".What you'll doOwn the backbone of a product: You will be the sole software engineer working on the software of our device as it enters the market.Build internal analytics, logging, and testing tools as needed for bulletproof product reliability & QC.Work with internal users & customers to create a coherent and smooth user experience.Immediate/Short Term Work (60-90 days)Work with engineering team to familiarize with DynaChip including firmware, software, and hardware.Work with the applications and engineering teams to develop new system workflowsDevelop robust control systems with comprehensive state management and error handlingCreate intuitive user interfaces that simplify user interaction with the systemBuild internal analytics, logging, testing, and visualization tools as needed for bulletproof product reliability & streamlined system performance/analytics including both local and networked database logging solutionsLong Term Initiatives (6-12 months & beyond)Test and document code, APIs, and system architectureWork with the engineering team to integrate sensors, motors, valves, pumps, etc. into the physical product.Work with the engineering team and external contractors for electrical system design including custom PCB integration.Support incremental improvements to existing products (e.g., upgrading a sensor to increase system stability)Support ground-up product development cycles (prototyping, proof-of-concept, testing, and commercialization)Design and implement secure over-the-air (OTA) update mechanisms for robust communication bridges between local hardware and networked servers for remote updates, support, and data logging
