Lighthouse Lab Services is working on behalf of a high-throughput laboratory in Cincinnati that is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join their leadership team as the Vice President of Laboratory Operations. This role provides overall management, operations, and administrative leadership for all laboratory staff. The Vice President serves as a liaison between the laboratory, medical providers, and executive leadership, working closely with quality assurance and quality control teams to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-performing operations in a patient-care setting.This position oversees a laboratory specializing primarily in toxicology and clinical chemistry, requiring expertise in managing high-throughput analytical testing, ensuring rigorous compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting innovation in these disciplines.Key Responsibilities:Strategic LeadershipDevelop and execute a strategic vision for toxicology and clinical chemistry services aligned with organizational goals.Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate laboratory services into the broader business strategy.Multi-State OperationsOversee toxicology and clinical chemistry laboratory operations across multiple states, ensuring consistent quality and compliance.Manage biohazardous and chemical waste handling and disposal, establishing vendor and regulatory contacts as appropriate.Maintain working knowledge of health and safety regulations (bloodborne pathogens, first aid, CPR, etc.).Lead laboratory LIS integration onto an internal platform.Define, track, and report KPIs to measure efficiency and competitiveness.Improve turnaround times to meet or exceed patient and business needs.Regulatory ComplianceEnsure all technical and compliance requirements are met for TJC, CLIA, CMS, and other applicable regulatory organizations, with specific attention to toxicology and clinical chemistry testing.Collaborate with regulatory affairs to address state-specific laboratory requirements.Quality ManagementImplement and oversee quality assurance and quality control processes for toxicology and clinical chemistry assays.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and efficiency.Update and implement laboratory policies and procedures as needed.Manage toxicology testing and reporting expectations for outreach teams and referral partners.Team LeadershipHire, mentor, and lead a high-performance team of laboratory professionals with expertise in toxicology and clinical chemistry.Provide leadership and guidance to regional laboratory directors and staff.Ensure training and development programs support organizational goals.Align laboratory staff performance objectives with company objectives.Financial Planning & Budgeting (P&L Responsibility)Own full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for laboratory operations, ensuring financial performance aligns with strategic goals.Develop and manage laboratory budgets in coordination with finance teams.Partner with accounting and finance to maintain reporting packages that track metrics and efficiencies.Optimize cost-effectiveness while maintaining high-quality toxicology and clinical chemistry services.Oversee procurement processes to secure reliable, cost-efficient suppliers.Technology IntegrationOversee integration and effective use of laboratory information systems (LIS).Leverage technology to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.Other DutiesServe as a liaison between laboratory services, medical providers, and healthcare teams.Manage relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost-effectiveness.Provide executive leadership with regular updates on performance metrics and initiatives.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field (required).Master's Degree or equivalent relevant experience (preferred).6+ years of laboratory management experience, with direct experience in toxicology and/or clinical chemistry strongly preferred.Experience overseeing multi-state operations (preferred).Advanced IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, Access, and other programming/software tools (preferred).About Us:At Lighthouse Lab Services, we offer solutions to help start, grow, and run clinical laboratories.
