Project Manager - New ConstructionLocation: Southeast Virginia. Newport News Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to oversee new construction mechanical projects from award through final client acceptance. This role carries full profit/loss responsibility and requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Oversight: Manage all phases of mechanical construction projects including contract administration, scheduling, budgeting, supervision, and quality control.Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and general contractors post-award.Scheduling & Coordination: Collaborate with contractors, inspectors, designers, and internal teams to ensure timely installation of plumbing, HVAC systems, ductwork, insulation, and controls.Material Management: Coordinate with prefabrication and procurement teams to ensure efficient material flow and timely delivery.Budget & Cost Control: Monitor labor, subcontractor, and material costs; update forecasts monthly using internal accounting systems.Change Management: Estimate and manage change orders, ensuring proper documentation and timely approvals.Commissioning: Develop and lead commissioning plans, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project timelines.Team Leadership: Conduct regular meetings with foremen and subcontractors to ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance.Project Closeout: Facilitate handoff to service teams for warranty and ongoing maintenance.Qualifications5-10 years of experience in mechanical contracting project management, ideally with projects ranging from $8M-$12M.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word); experience with Timberline or similar business software.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Demonstrated success in managing teams and subcontractors to meet performance objectives.Personal AttributesGoal-oriented and self-accountable.Strong sense of urgency and motivation.Professional, honest, and committed to excellence.Skilled in conflict resolution and relationship building.Values-driven with a focus on people, community, and integrity.Workload & ExpectationsApproximately 80% of time will be spent managing active projects; 20% on estimating, reporting, training, and meetings.Must maintain a working calendar, daily activity log, and written goals for each project.Expected to track, analyze, and report progress regularly.Compensation & BenefitsA competitive compensation package and comprehensive employee benefits are offered.
