Impactful Inpatient Stroke Physiatrist Opportunity - ChicagoAbout the CompanySchwab Rehabilitation Hospital is a freestanding, not-for-profit rehabilitation hospital that offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs for adults and children. Our intensive award-winning inpatient rehabilitation program schedules each patient for a minimum of three hours of therapy, five or more days a week. Schwab also has seven treatment gyms featuring state-of-the-art equipment, private treatment rooms, a warm-water indoor therapy pool, and an award-winning therapeutic rooftop garden. Schwab was the first fully licensed and accredited rehabilitation hospital in the Midwest. Schwab maintains accreditation with The Joint Commission.About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Stroke Rehabilitation Attending Physiatrist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead and coordinate the rehabilitation efforts for patients recovering from stroke and other brain injuries, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care.ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership: Provide expert medical oversight and management for patients in the stroke and brain injury rehabilitation program.Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with a team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, neuropsychologists, and nursing staff to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.Patient Management: Conduct comprehensive evaluations, monitor patient progress, and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal functional outcomes.Education and Training: Mentor and educate medical residents, fellows, and rehabilitation staff, fostering a collaborative learning environment.Research and Quality Improvement: Engage in clinical research initiatives and quality improvement projects aimed at advancing rehabilitation practices and patient care.Community Engagement: Participate in community outreach programs to promote awareness and education on stroke and brain injury prevention and recovery.QualificationsEducation: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.Training: Completion of an accredited residency program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R).Board Certification: Board certification or eligibility in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
