Job Description

The Environmental Assistant Floor/Special Project Team employee will clean and sanitize rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas following established policies and procedures.Minimum EducationHigh School Diploma or GED (Required)Minimum Work Experience2 years Cleaning/housekeeping experience (Preferred)Functional Accountabilities2 years Floor care/special project experience (Preferred)Floor CareUse vacuum to clean carpets; use carpet extractor or bonnet buff to perform spot removal or clean carpets.Use brooms, mops, buffers to sweep, dry/wet mop, scrub, strip and refinish, sanitize and disinfect hard surface floors.Report damaged carpets and floors and situations where stain removal can not be done.Mix, use and dispose of floor care chemicals according to directions.Clean and properly store floor equipment; operate cleaning equipment according to instructions; replace belts, bags and make other minor equipment repairs; report other mechanical failures to supervisor.Personal and Patient SafetyWear personal protective equipment according to hospital guidelines, follow universal precautions.Use appropriate cleaning materials.Report unsafe conditions in assigned work areas.Observe isolation procedures.Room Set-up and Tear DownMove furniture and equipment as directed, use good body mechanicsPerform room set-up and tear-down as directed for special events.Other DutiesComplete project report of completed tasks during shiftAttend weekly/monthly and annual mandatory departmental training sessions.Use pallet jack to move boxes from loading dock to stock supply room.Non-Essential FunctionArrive and depart work on time.Report to work on scheduled days with no excessive absenteeism.Leave for meal break and return on time.Report to work in uniform.Uniform is clean and free of debris or odor.Entire uniform is worn daily.Organizational AccountabilitiesOrganizational Accountabilities (Staff)Organizational Commitment/Identification Anticipate and responds to customer needs; follows up until needs are metTeamwork/CommunicationDemonstrate collaborative and respectful behaviorPartner with all team members to achieve goalsReceptive to others' ideas and opinionsPerformance Improvement/Problem-solvingContribute to a positive work environmentDemonstrate flexibility and willingness to changeIdentify opportunities to improve clinical and administrative processesMake appropriate decisions, using sound judgmentCost Management/Financial ResponsibilityUse resources efficientlySearch for less costly ways of doing thingsSafetySpeak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performanceContinuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentationStop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situationDemonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communicationActively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co-workersAttend carefully to important details - practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review in order to self-check behavior and performancePrimary LocationDistrict of Columbia-WashingtonWork LocationsCN Hospital (Main Campus)JobEnvironmental Services/ TransporterOrganizationOperationsPosition StatusR (Regular)ShiftEveningWork Schedule3p-1130p Rotating Weekends & HolidaysJob PostingJul 7, 2025, 7:39:48 PMFull-Time Salary Range37648
