Job Summary: QST is a growing global electronic sensor company, expanding their presence in North America. This requires QST to build a team in the Detroit area that will support a newly acquired business with manufacturing in Mexico. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Automotive OEM/Tier Application Engineer to join our NA team, reporting to the Senior Sales Manager. This role serves as the technical interface between our company and OEM customers, ensuring the successful integration of our products into their vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive engineering, experience working with OEMs, and expertise in product development, change management, validation, and troubleshooting. This role will also involve expanding sales opportunities by introducing new QST products and technologies to customers. This applicant must have a background in engineering and large OEM accounts, preferably serving the engine, transmission and overall powertrain sensor markets within the automotive industry. Knowledge of engine cam/crank and transmission speed/position sensors is a plus.The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of automotive engineering, manufacturing & supply chain systems, excellent communication skills and a proven ability to manage multiple accounts effectively. As the role will be remote in the near term, we are searching for self-starter types that can manage their accounts and programs without close supervision. This role will be remote in the near term, transitioning to a hybrid model as our NA presence grows. Communication with the team in China is also expected, and familiarity with international collaboration is a plus.Primary Responsibilities:Develop and maintain strong relationships with automotive OEM's and Tiers and key stakeholders. Must have demonstrated experience working with GM, Ford, Stellantis and some of the major Tiers such as Magna, Bosch, Eaton, etc.... European & Japan/Korea OEM's a plus. Serve as the primary technical liaison between the company and automotive OEM customers.Provide technical support and guidance for the integration of company products into OEM vehicle platforms.Work closely with internal teams, including design, manufacturing, and sales, to meet customer requirements.Participate in the design, development, and validation of automotive components and systems.Conduct system-level analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for customer-reported issues.Assist in creating and reviewing technical documentation, specifications, and test plans.Support product launches, prototype builds, and vehicle testing at customer sites as needed.Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and OEM-specific requirements.Identify new opportunities for product enhancements and innovations based on customer feedback.Travel to customer sites and manufacturing facilities as required.Identify key individuals at the OEM or Tier level that will help understand trends and technology requirements for QST products. Identify and communicate where QST has growth potential. Identify & facilitate opportunities for joint development projects between OEM's/Tiers and QST.Support the identification and development of new specifications related to these new products and markets that drive our product roadmaps. Required Skills and Competencies:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably working with OEMs and Tiers.Experience with Ford, GM, Stellantis, VW, Magna, Bendix, CAT, CNH, John Deere, etc...a plus. Strong knowledge of automotive systems, components, and validation processes.Experience with CAD software, automotive testing tools, and diagnostic equipment.Understanding of industry standards such as ISO 26262, IATF 16949, and OEM-specific specifications.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment.Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing customer needs.Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.Join our team and be part of a fast-paced industry that drives innovation and excellence in the automotive industry.
