Tunnel Engineer

Aldea Services Inc, a national engineering firm, is seeking a Tunnel Engineer in our Columbus, OH office. The successful candidate will have a minimum of twelve (12) years working on geotechnical, underground, tunnel, or trenchless construction projects, including both design and construction management roles. Communicate technical and non-technical information in a concise, professional manner, including participation in technical meetings and workshops with owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.Business Development: Demonstrated success developing relationships with clients and contributing to business growth.Water and Wastewater Design: Experience with tunnel and trenchless design and construction of municipal water and wastewater conveyance facilities.Engineering Designs: Prepare construction plans and specifications, structural/geotechnical calculations and design reports, and technical memoranda.Design Calculations: Ability to produce design calculations (including numerical analysis) as required in support of tunnel and trenchless design including support of excavation (shafts & tunnels - including connection details and complex structures), and adherence to all local and national codes of practice for concrete, steel, and timber design.Geotechnical Field Investigations: Experience overseeing the completion of geotechnical investigations in both soil and rock geology.Geotechnical Parametric Studies/Evaluations: Ability to develop design parameters from geotechnical reports.Construction Management: Experience serving in a management or support role during the construction of tunnel or trenchless projects.Technical Writing: Proficiency in preparation of Technical Memoranda, Geotechnical Data Reports (GDR's), and Geotechnical Baseline Reports (GBR's)Company Representation: Increase Aldea's visibility with internal and external professionals by participating in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations, including any identified industry activities. Minimum RequirementsCandidates MUST be legally authorized to work in the United States and must have proof of employment eligibility in the United States. Bachelor's Degree in relevant area of studyMinimum of twelve (12) years of experience in geotechnical, tunnel, trenchless, or underground projectsPreferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) License in OhioMaster's or Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or related fieldExperience delivering tunnel and trenchless solutions for projects in soft ground and hard rockExperience supervising geotechnical investigationsExperience in the planning, design and construction of tunnel and trenchless projectsExcellent problem solving, decision making and teamwork skillsExcellent technical writing skills and attention to detailExcellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of relevant technical codes, operations, processes, and trendsAbility to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clientsAbility to work independently, exercise independent judgment, interact with other staff, collaborate with other disciplines, and mentor junior staffAldea Services Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
