The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center is actively seeking Pediatric Hospitalists to join a vibrant team at UT Southwestern and Children's Health System of Texas in Dallas.Join a robust division of 51 faculty members22+ faculty are fellowship trained, 78% are PHM Board eligible/certified and 22% are General Pediatric BE/BC.Practice is located only on the main campus at Children's Medical Center DallasOur large clinical practice consists of caring for approximately 50% of hospitalized children on Dallas campus. Our model consists of traditional teaching (2), 1 hybrid teaching and solo hospitalist-only (7) services that include an "observation unit" and an "intermediate care unit (IMCU)".One admitter and two swing service attending do admissions between 7 am-10 pm.We have a dedicated nocturnist program to cover night call, so faculty are expected to cover only 2 night calls a monthIndividual service lines are capped for workload and admitter/swing services do admissions between 7 am and 11 pm.Our ACGME accredited fellowship was expanded to four fellows per year, with 100% successful Match. All fellows present abstracts at national conferences, and 100% fellows publish their scholarly project in peer reviewed journals.Annually 240 medical students, 25 Sub-Interns, 130+ pediatric residents and 35+ Family Medicine, Anesthesia, Pediatric/Psychiatry and Psychiatry residents rotate through our services. Our faculty are highly rated by trainees and faculty with interest in education are integrated within residency, clerkship and medical school.Divisional organization chart includes medical directors for operations, quality & safety, associate operations directors, Director of IMCU, fellowship PD/APD, and lead for clinical faculty development. Additionally, faculty in the division hold important Department and HealthSystem leadership roles such as residency program director, clerkship director, medical director for utilization management and physician advisor for clinical documentation improvement.Faculty have access to all medical and surgical specialties and numerous ancillary servicesTremendous growth potential - as faculty have ample opportunities for career advancement in their areas of interest. Faculty scholarly interests and publications include topics: Children with medical complexity, musculoskeletal infections, resource utilization and low value care, Bronchiolitis, cost effective care, drug of abuse, operational efficiency, and achievable benchmarks of care etc. Division participates in Health Services, clinical and QI research. Division participates in VIP and PRIS network projects.Competitive compensation model.Responsibilities for the faculty will include providing clinical services at the Children's Health facility in Dallas (quaternary care). PHM faculty provides both direct patient care and care with residents and students. Direct care is provided 24/7. Care with trainees is provided on both teaching service and solo services with categorical pediatric residency training program and students from UT Southwestern Medical School. Faculty are involved in education, simulation, quality/safety, clinical/QI and health services research. Professional growth is tailored per individual needs. Division has a peer mentoring program for all new faculty.Academic ResponsibilitiesClinical practice involves teaching medical students, categorical pediatrics and medicine-pediatrics residents, and family medicine, anesthesia, and peds. psychiatry residents, from UTSW and affiliated institutions. Practice has strong collaboration ED/ICUs, all specialties and palliative care program. Faculty have opportunity for advanced training in MPH, MBA or master's in clinical informatics.
