Database Engineer

The Intersect Group is seeking a Database Engineer for our direct healthcare client, where you will focus on loading data from various sources into the Data Lake and/or Data Warehouse as well as building and maintaining data pipelines.Direct Hire (No C2C or third-party submissions)Location: For the first month or two the schedule will be hybrid with Monday & Tuesday in-office and remote for the remainder of the week. Eventually it will be 1 day a week on site in Addison (75001)Schedule: Hybrid unless not located in the DFW area then this person can work fully remoteInterview process: Typically, 2 rounds of virtual interviewsNeeds:5+ years working as a data engineer or data analyst5+ years working with SQL Server or other relational databases, building data pipelines using ETL tools like ADF, Airbyte, Informatica, etc.5+ years building objects in a SQL database, including tables, stored procedures, and viewsExpertise in SQL and data analysisExperienced building data pipelines using ETL tools like ADF (preference) or DBT (also a plus) and Airflow (will be using both for quite a while until they fully transition to Snowflake)Demonstrated ability in meeting deadlines and communicating progress across projectsAbility to coordinate and collaborate with other team members and business ownersExcellent communication, organization, and time management skillsBachelor's degree or higherPreferred:Experience working with Azure DevOpsExperience working with cloud data such as Snowflake, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Factory (ADF) highly desiredExperience building Power BI dashboards strongly preferredExperience working with DBT preferredExperience with Healthcare or Financial data preferredDuties:Profile and analyze data from multiple sources and data typesBuild ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and load dataMaintain and monitor data pipelines and schedulesTriage and troubleshoot data quality issues and implement corrective actionsBuild and maintain data transformationsBuild and standardize reporting objects, data, and logic at the database layerFollow best practices for development, QA, deployment, source code managementEnsure proper documentation is maintained, and provide walk-through of definitions and metricsCoordinate closely with other developers to streamline processes and optimizeGain strong knowledge of underlying data and business rules, and assist other teamsAdopt agile methodology, and assist in tracking and communicating progress of deliverablesIdentify improvement opportunities (proactive and reactive)Build and maintain strong relationships with business and IT users, both onshore and offshore
