About the CompanyA clinical stage biotechnology company (Public) focused on the advancement of novel genetic medicines is seeking a VP of Finance to join their organization.About the RoleThe Vice President, Finance will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of all financial activities of the Company. This individual will play a critical role in guiding financial strategy, ensuring fiscal discipline, and maintaining the integrity of financial reporting in a complex and highly regulated environment. The role requires deep expertise in the biotechnology sector, particularly in navigating the unique financial requirements of a public, clinical-stage company, including research and development funding, clinical trial cost management, capital markets transactions, and compliance with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).ResponsibilitiesStrategic Financial LeadershipPartner with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and executive team to define and implement long-term financial strategies aligned with corporate objectives and shareholder value creation.Provide strategic financial counsel on clinical development programs, partnership structures, and other growth initiatives.Serve as a key financial liaison to the Board of Directors and Audit Committee.Financial Planning, Analysis, and OperationsLead the Company's budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.Develop and oversee robust financial models to inform corporate strategy, scenario planning, and resource allocation.Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, with particular focus on R&D and clinical trial expenditures.Accounting, Reporting, and ComplianceDirect all aspects of SEC financial reporting, including 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy statements, and earnings releases, ensuring compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and other applicable regulations.Manage annual audits and oversee internal control frameworks to maintain financial compliance and mitigate risk.Establish and maintain strong accounting policies, systems, and internal processes in support of a public company environment.Capital Markets and Investor EngagementSupport capital raising activities, including public equity offerings, debt financings, and strategic transactions.Collaborate with Investor Relations on financial communications, analyst engagement, and investor presentations.Maintain strong relationships with investment banks, analysts, and institutional investors.Organizational LeadershipRecruit, develop, and retain a high-performing finance team with capabilities in accounting, FP&A, and compliance.Implement systems, processes, and controls to ensure scalability and efficiency in alignment with the Company's growth trajectory.Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and Human Resources to ensure alignment of financial objectives with overall business priorities.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline; MBA and/or CPA designation strongly preferred.Minimum of 15 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a publicly traded biotechnology or life sciences company.Demonstrated expertise in SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and U.S. GAAP.Proven experience managing financial strategy for clinical-stage organizations, including complex R&D and clinical trial cost structures.Direct involvement in capital markets transactions and investor engagement.Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills with a proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.High ethical standards, sound judgment, and a commitment to integrity and transparency.
