Platform Engineer

About the RoleAs the Platform Engineer at Preffect, you'll own and scale the foundational infrastructure and developer platform that powers our AI native Health & Wellness app, available in the App Store here: an individual contributor (IC), you'll design, implement, and own the systems, pipelines, and tooling that enable our engineers to build, test, and ship quickly and reliably. You'll be the go-to person for CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and operational excellence. You will operate at the cutting edge and shape our long-term platform strategy.Responsibilities?? Infrastructure & PlatformDesign, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (IaC).Own CI/CD pipelines for mobile, backend, and ML workflows.Define golden paths, templates, and automation to accelerate developer productivity.Manage container orchestration platforms, such as Kubernetes, to ensure scalable and reliable deployments.Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting to ensure system reliability.?? Security & OperationsEstablish and enforce security best practices, including secrets management and least-privilege access.Set up incident response processes, SLOs, and runbooks.Optimize cloud costs and ensure scalability as the user base grows.?? Collaboration & EnablementPartner with backend, ML, and mobile engineers to ensure smooth deployments.Provide technical guidance and documentation to empower the team.Champion a culture of reliability, automation, and operational excellence.Minimum Qualifications8-10 years of experience across platform engineering, site reliability engineering, DevOps, and MLOps.?? Proven track record building and scaling developer platforms at a startup or high-growth environment.?? Strong hands-on expertise with IaC (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, or equivalent).?? Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar).?? Deep knowledge of cloud providers (AWS, GCP, and Azure) and containerization.?? Experience deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters in production.?? Track record of driving observability and monitoring (Datadog, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, etc.).?? Practical mindset balancing speed, cost, and security.?? Lifelong growth mindset, with a penchant for thriving at the cutting edge, including use of AI-assisted tools as a force multiplier.Preferred Qualifications? Experience in early-stage startups, consumer apps, or Health & Wellness.? Hands-on expertise with Azure ecosystem and CD for Kubernetes (Argo, Flux, etc.).? Exposure to ML workflows across the full end-to-end ML lifecycle.? Proficiency with Python.? Familiarity with iOS mobile CI/CD pipelines.?
