We're currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Clinical Laboratory Technologist with a focus in Microbiology to join our lab team in Asheville, NC. In this role, you'll conduct a wide range of microbiological tests and analyses that directly support patient care and clinical decision-making. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow professionally in a collaborative and high-performing laboratory environment.Clinical Laboratory Technologist - MicrobiologyLocation: Asheville, NCPay: $22-$38/hr (based on experience)Employment Type: Direct HireKey Responsibilities:Perform routine and complex microbiological testing, including culture setup, organism identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.Ensure the accuracy, quality, and timely reporting of results in compliance with regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, etc.).Maintain clear, organized, and thorough documentation of all laboratory processes and results.Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver accurate diagnostic data.Adhere to all safety, quality control, and infection prevention protocols.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field is required.ASCP certification (or equivalent) as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) is preferred.4-7 years of hands-on clinical microbiology experience in a hospital or reference laboratory setting is preferred.Minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity within a clinical laboratory is strongly preferred.Proficient in performing and interpreting blood, stool, wound, and urine cultures, with experience in organism identification techniques (e.g., biochemicals, Vitek, MALDI-ToF).Experience with parasitology microscopy and identification, including trichrome and concentration preparations.Comfortable with operating and maintaining microbiology instrumentation (e.g., Vitek, MALDI-ToF).Must have strong bench experience in clinical microbiology; molecular-only or academic-only microbiology experience will not meet the requirements for this position.Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical setting.Note: This job description outlines a comprehensive list of preferred qualifications and skills.
