JOB TITLE: Senior Associate - Investment BankingLOCATION: Chicago, IllinoisINDUSTRY: Financial ServicesJOB DESCRIPTION: The Senior Associate will play a key role in supporting investment banking and restructuring engagements. This role involves advanced financial modeling, industry research, preparing client deliverables, and assisting in transaction execution. The position requires strong analytical abilities, proficiency with financial tools, and the ability to interact directly with clients and firm leadership.RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform advanced industry and client research to support engagements. • Prepare client deliverables including marketing pitches, management presentations, Confidential Information Memorandums, and teasers. • Compile and review due diligence files. • Research and solicit prospective investors/buyers for investment banking transactions. • Develop and review valuations and financial models. • Build and edit customized financial models and analyses. • Identify and screen comparable companies and transactions. • Review assumptions for discounted cash flow and cost of capital. • Conduct liquidation and debt capacity analyses. • Support restructuring and bankruptcy-related engagements: - Develop 13/26-week cash flow forecasts. - Prepare bankruptcy-related schedules and analyses. - Provide support across all facets of bankruptcy cases. • Supervise Associates and provide guidance on deliverables. • Interact frequently with clients and demonstrate proactive communication with firm leadership. • Work products and day-to-day oversight will be provided by VPs and Directors.REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor's degree required. • 2-5 years of experience in restructuring, investment banking, credit-related roles, or principal investing. • Strong financial modeling experience and skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. • Strong working knowledge of CapIQ, Pitchbook, Bloomberg, Octus, and related tools.PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS: • MBA, CPA, or CFA designation. • Completion of a 2-year investment banking analyst program. • FINRA Series 63 and 79 licenses.TRAINING / CERTIFICATIONS: • Completion of "Training the Street" financial modeling seminar. • Obtain FINRA SIE, 79, and 63 licenses within 1 year of hire. • Eligibility for Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) and Certification in Distressed Business Valuation (CDBV) once professional hours requirements are met.ABOUT THEORIS: Our goal is to Fuel Your Career!
