OverviewOur client, a major PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Services) entity owned by 20 non-profit health plans serving >33 million members and benefits manager of government programs including Medicare and Medicaid, seeks an accomplished Certified Pharmacy TechnicianJob Title: Certified Pharmacy Technician (Remote - California Residents Only)Location: 100% Remote (Must reside in California)Duration: 6-month contract with potential extensionStart Date: Monday, November 3, 2025Pay Rate: $22.00/hour (W2)Schedule:Working Days: 5 days/week, coverage required Monday-SundayShift: Start times vary between 8:00 AM - 12:30 PMTraining: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (4 weeks, camera required)Must-Have Requirements:Active California State Pharmacy Technician LicenseQuiet, distraction-free home officeSecure, hard-wired internet connection (LAN cable provided; Wi-Fi not permitted due to PHI regulations)Camera usage mandatory during training and meetingsJob Description:The Certified Pharmacy Technician will evaluate and authorize prior authorization pharmacy requests received via phone or fax, ensuring decisions align with clinical criteria. This role involves communication with prescribers, physician offices, medical management staff, and pharmacists to provide timely determinations and support.Responsibilities:Review and determine appropriateness of medications based on client criteriaCommunicate authorization decisions to physicians, office staff, medical management, and pharmacistsResearch, resolve, and document prior authorization outcomes in pharmacy systemEscalate requests to Pharmacist when extensive clinical review or denial is requiredProvide timely resolution to inquiries and grievances from clients, prescribers, or providersFor fax queue assignments: clinically review coverage determinations and communicate outcomes within SLA guidelinesMonitor multiple queues and adapt to business needs (fax work, pending queues, oral notifications, failed faxes)Perform additional duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDCertified/licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in California (CA State)Reside in California0-2 years pharmacy experienceMust be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorshipMinimum of 6 months dispensing or retail experience required (or equivalent internal training)Additional Qualifications:Experience in specialty or retail pharmacy, reimbursement, or healthcare/health plan settingsKnowledge of specialty injectable drugs, formulary management, medical terminology, and reimbursement coding (J/Q codes, ICD-9, CMS 1500, etc.)Proficiency in pharmacy systems, software applications, and Microsoft Office SuiteStrong written/verbal communication and ability to follow clinical criteriaProblem-solving and troubleshooting skillsPreferred Qualifications:Compliance with all legal, regulatory, contractual, and internal policy requirementsAbility to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodationsRecruiter Contact InfoSajag Bhardwajsajag.bhardwaj@I'd love to talk to you if you think this position is right up your alley, and assure prompt communication, whichever direction.
