PART-TIME Seasonal Part-Time R&D Technician Host Resistance Technician Position: R&D Technician Host Resistance Assistant/Technician Seasonal Position: 10 months Part-Time: 36hr/ week Location: Cassin Ranch, Watsonville Hourly Pay: 20.00 Job Description - To assist Host Resistance team in day-to-day operations. Assist in evaluating disease and insect pest resistance to important pathogens and insect pests of all the four berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries) we work with. Assist in setting up experiments and data collection. Help with day to day activities in greenhouse and in lab, occasionally in test plots. Help with media preparation. Maintain lab cleanliness. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Comfortable working with plant pathogens (fungal and bacterial) and insect pests. Detail oriented Comfortable working in lab, greenhouse and field conditions. Be able to stand long hours during experiment set up and data collection Be able to work under hot and humid conditions in the greenhouse Be able to lift 30 lbs. weight Valid driver's license required Ability to learn new tasks quickly Ability to work independently as well as in a team Ability to use MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint_Prefer those with a degree in Biological Sciences or working towards such degree__ No lab experience needed (however preferred) and all training will be provided._Job Type: Part-timePay: $20.00 per hourBenefits: Employee discount Referral programWork Location: In person
