Job descriptionWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented OSP Fiber Splicer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables in a variety of outdoor environments"”including aerial lines, underground conduits, and fiber enclosures. Your work will directly support the performance and reliability of our expanding fiber optic network.The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, precision, and a proactive mindset to meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality service in the field.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform fusion splicing with accuracy to ensure minimal insertion loss and maximum signal performance.Prepare cables by stripping, cleaning, cleaving, and organizing fibers to industry standards.Use tools such as OTDRs, power meters, and fusion splicers to test and validate connections.Inspect and diagnose issues such as cable damage, poor splices, or signal degradation.Document all splicing activities, including splice points, cable routing, and test results.Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and equipment maintenance.May be asked to pull, route, and install fiber as part of splicing or repair operations.Respond to emergency outages, participating in an on-call rotation as needed.Maintain a clean and organized work area, including job sites, tools, and company vehicles.Collaborate with engineers, field techs, and project managers to complete tasks efficiently.Calibrate and maintain all fiber splicing and testing gear. Report malfunctions promptly.Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity or performance issues in real-time.Requirements and QualificationsProven experience with fiber optic splicing and testing (aerial and underground).Proficiency with fusion splicers, OTDRs, and other fiber optic test equipment.Ability to read and interpret fiber splicing plans, schematics, and blueprints.Strong attention to detail, especially in splicing and documentation.Physically able to work outdoors, climb ladders, and lift heavy equipment.Flexible to work in a fast-paced, on-call, and sometimes hazardous environment.Valid driver's license and a clean driving record required.OSHA or other relevant safety certifications are a plus.Preferred SkillsFamiliarity with GIS/mapping software or digital splice documentation toolsKnowledge of fiber color codes and cable management best practicesExperience in rural and urban build environments
