The Bellevue Downtown Association (BDA) is hiring a Communications Manager to shape the voice and visibility of a dynamic nonprofit at the heart of Downtown Bellevues growth. This role is ideal for a strong writer and content strategist who knows how to connect with diverse audiences, manage multiple platforms, and elevate the presence of community-based programs and place-based storytelling.Were looking for someone who leads with curiosity, communicates clearly, and brings initiative and creativity to the work. This role offers hands-on leadership across communications channels, regular collaboration with senior staff and community leaders, and a front-row seat to the strategic, civic, and creative work shaping one of the nations most dynamic urban centers.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Communications and StorytellingLead the development of integrated messaging strategies that support the BDAs mission, programs, and public voiceWrite and edit newsletters, press releases, executive talking points, and key public materialsIdentify and produce feature stories that highlight the people, businesses, and momentum shaping Downtown BellevueEnsure consistent, high-quality messaging across all communications and platformsDigital and Web StrategyOversee website content and updates, ensuring relevance, accessibility, and alignment with organizational goalsMonitor performance metrics and apply insights to improve engagement and functionCollaborate with internal teams and vendors to support web campaigns and cross-platform storytellingSocial Media and Public EngagementManage the BDAs social media presence with a balance of thoughtful storytelling, real-time updates, and visual appealMaintain editorial calendars and campaign plans to support events, initiatives, and civic prioritiesMonitor audience engagement and public feedback to inform strategy and messaging toneMarketing and Program VisibilityDevelop marketing content that promotes BDA-led events and community programsProduce clear, well-branded materials for both public and member audiencesCoordinate with design partners and creative vendors to meet deadlines and uphold brand consistencyMedia and Stakeholder RelationsServe as the media contact for the organization and coordinate outreach around key announcements and opportunitiesBuild and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and community influencersSupport message development for board communications, public events, and speaking engagementsTeam and Community EngagementParticipate in committee settings, engage with the BDA board, and represent the organization in civic and community spaces.Support the production of major community events, working closely with staff and volunteers to ensure a polished experience.Contribute to a team culture that values humility, reliability, and drive"”traits we believe define great collaborators.QualificationsMinimum 4 years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or related fieldsExceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skillsStrong project management capabilities and attention to detailExperience with website management and digital strategyProficiency with social media strategy, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and content analytics toolsComfortable working with creative vendors and managing deadlines across multiple deliverablesSkilled at working in a team setting, contributing to shared goals, and adapting to evolving prioritiesAn interest in Downtown Bellevue and a desire to help shape its future through effective, thoughtful communicationCompensation and BenefitsThis is a full-time, salaried position, with competitive pay benchmarked against similar positions at membership organizations.
