An outstanding bankruptcy assistant will be a highly organized team player who provides excellent support to bankruptcy lawyers.Responsibilities:Processing and filing bankruptcy-related documentsFormat and proofread pleadings, letters, memos, charts, tables, graphs and other documentsMaintain accurate and up-to-date related databasesGathering information from creditors, debtors, trustees, and court clerksObtaining credit reports and writing Proofs of ClaimConducting legal research on bankruptcy-related issuesSubmitting legal documents to the Bankruptcy Court in a timely mannerMaintaining hard copy files, as well as filing and monitoring cases on electronic platformsRequirements:Must have 3+ years experience as a bankruptcy paralegal/assistant demonstrating a significant level of substantive knowledge and understanding of the practice areaKnowledge of legal terminology, as well as national, federal, and state-specific bankruptcy proceduresExtensive experience in preparing legal documents related to bankruptcy casesExperience in the electronic filing of cases on the U. S. Federal Bankruptcy Courts Electronic Case Filing SystemMust have recent experience in preparing Chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcy proceedingsDemonstrate working knowledge of technology applicable to practice area, including Best Case bankruptcy software is essentialKnowledge of Prolaw, Westlaw and internet search engines for research purposesAbility to work overtime and weekendsMust exhibit a high degree of initiative in managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment utilizing excellent judgment, and decision-making skillsAbility to collaborate with attorneys and clientsAbility to conduct legal research, keep clients informed, and adhere to submission deadlinesAbility to perform large volumes of work with minimal supervisionExceptional organizational, recordkeeping, and communication skillsThe salary range for bankruptcy assistant is between $85,000 - $100,000.
