For more information, visit .SUMMARY:The communications manager supports the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce's public policy, marketing, and strategic initiatives efforts by managing strategic communications, press relations, and public messaging. Working closely with the director of public policy and other senior staff, the communications manager ensures that the Chamber's positions, priorities, and external communications are clearly and effectively conveyed to the media, members, and the public. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in political communication"”ideally from a political campaign, elected official's office, or public affairs organization.RESPONSIBILITIESCommunications Responsibilities:Draft and edit a wide range of materials, including press releases, talking points, speeches, op-eds, newsletters, policy briefings, website, and social media content for members.Manage rapid response messaging related to breaking news, legislation, and policy debates.Assist the marketing team with the Chamber's external communications channels, including messaging strategy and copy for the website, email marketing, and social media platforms.Assist the public policy, marketing, and events team with preparation of communications material for the Chamber's signature events. Assist senior staff in the development and implementation of strategic communications plans to support the Chamber's goals and initiatives.Press Relations Responsibilities:Assist the director of public policy and director of strategic initiatives in maintaining strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.Assist director of public policy and director of strategic initiatives in coordinating and preparing CEO for interviews, press conferences, media briefings, and editorial board meetings.As needed, serve as a key point of contact for inbound media inquiries and proactive press outreach.Strategic Responsibilities:Work with public policy team to monitor local, state, and federal political developments and pitch Chamber leadership on potential communications opportunities.Support the Chamber's external messaging on advocacy campaigns.Collaborate across teams (policy, events, marketing, membership) to ensure message alignment and consistent brand voice.Assist in positioning Chamber leadership as thought leaders on critical business and economic issues.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLSBachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 2 years of experience in political communications, campaigns, public affairs, media relations, or a related field.Experience working on a political campaign, in the office of an elected official, or with a business advocacy organization is strongly preferred.Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive, and polished content under tight deadlines.Demonstrated ability to manage project timelines and prioritize multiple assignments.Familiarity with San Francisco's political, business, and civic landscape.Experience with large scale event communications.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESStrategic thinker with strong political instincts and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Compensation commensurate with experience. The Chamber also provides a generous benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) program with employer matching (subject to annual Board of Directors approval).
