While Fosun Pharma USA can facilitate a partnership with Fosun HQ for the Chinese market, the focus is on US rights for innovative biopharmaceutical products.Fosun aspires to become a leader in specialty generics, 505(b)(2), a branded pharmaceutical company, by developing cutting-edge, innovative products focusing on therapeutic areas such as oncology, auto-immune, CNS, etc. Pipeline expansion through internal R&D development, business development/licensing with a focus on the high barrier, complex, innovative 505(b)(2), including incubator of early-stage exploratory 505(b)(1) product with cutting edge technology, and asset acquisition in select therapeutic areas.The Role:We are looking for an Senior Director, Head of BD&L to lead our business development team for our generics/505(b)(2) and biosimilars business unit (Established Medicines Business Unit). Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this critical role focuses on driving growth and achieving target objectives. This is a "player/coach" role requiring the ideal candidate to have both hands-on, practical BD&L experience in generics and 505(b)(2) along with leadership skills to manage the EMBU business development team.The candidate should possess a solid understanding of BD&L processes, a strong network within the pharmaceutical industry with a focus on generics and 505(b)(2)s, and related contract research organizations/developers/manufacturers. They should also have a comprehensive understanding of commercial dynamics and key players in the US generics industry. In addition, the following experiences are essential to this position: product portfolio selection, commercial forecasts, financial modeling, running due diligence, hands-on understanding of contract mechanics, contract negotiations and creating business case presentations. The candidate should be capable of performing these tasks independently with minimal supervision and have experience leading a team of business development professionals. Additionally, they will support leadership in creating and implementing strategic plans and budgeting for resources.Main Responsibilities:Oversee the entire BD&L process from opportunity selection to transaction completion for generics and 505(b)(2) productsLead all transactional activity for EMBU BD&L including in- and out-licensing activities, development, co-development, manufacture and supply, asset divestiture and acquisitionIdentify, source and evaluate new product candidates as well as contract research organizations, developers and/or manufacturers for project implementationConduct initial evaluations of potential BD opportunities (including those from affiliate companies), create commercial forecasts and present them to leadership, considering competitive dynamics and players in the US generics industryCollaborate with technical and due diligence teams to incorporate feedback into commercial and financial analyses and contractual mechanics to mitigate risksStructure deals creatively, perform financial modeling and analysis, and articulate risks and mitigation strategiesWork closely with legal on creating non-binding term sheets and definitive agreements including leading the negotiation and closure of deals for EMBU and further working with project and alliance management for deal implementation.Create and understand business cases in detail to support each potential transaction and present to leadership for deal approvalsProvide leadership to the business development team, conducting performance reviews and oversee project management for pipeline projects and alliance management functionsSupport leadership in annual strategic planning, financial budgeting for BD projects and pipeline, and supply chain forecasting/launch planningRepresent Fosun US EMBU at industry conferences and interact with the management team in HeadquartersPerform other relevant responsibilities as neededRequirements:A BS/BA or University degree is required, a background in science/math is a plus.
