Hedging of agricultural commodities through market exchanges is critical to this role. The Sr. Director of Procurement sets strategic sourcing strategies for the Flour (Including Organic) Category that delivers consistent supplies of materials, drives productivity projects that have a financial impact to the company's bottom line, supports growth efforts related to the integration new plants, new product lines or additional lines at our plants, while hiring, training, and developing our team talent.Rising to the Challenge: Position ResponsibilitiesProvide thought leadership to the Commodity Leadership Team for the overarching Commodity Strategy developmentCreate Flour (Including Organic) Category Strategies to address growth, productivity, risk management and continuous improvement and developmentEstablish performance goals and metrics Flour (including Organic)Drive and develop Productivity initiatives that improve our total cost of ownership and overall efficiencies through RFP's, alternate supplier development, specification and/or formula optimization, supplier relationship management and negotiation. Strive for 1.5-2X benefit of team G&A Expense or 1-2% improvement per yearEstablish key cost assumptions for the annual planning cycle that address raw material feed stock inflation/deflation and productivity offsets impacting the respective materials for financial planning purposesWork with plant inventory fulfillment teams to ensure that they can order, receive, and pay for there respectively managed raw materials on a timely and accurate basisNegotiate supplier contracts: price, volume, service, payment terms with our respective risk management terms and conditions to ensure raw material quality and food safetyManage the respective suppliers on issues related to maintaining an uninterrupted supply of raw materials to bakery locations including the establishment of business continuity plansGather agricultural commodity and/or raw material feed stock information from various sources and assess its impact on the businessEnsure that business processes being used support accurate data input into SAP at all levels of the organizationParticipate as a member of the Flowers Foods Commodity Risk Subcommittee / Flowers Foods SLT DASHBOARD Reviews to discuss agricultural and raw material feedstock market information, current coverage positions and financial plan impactsQualify new vendors to supply existing materials. Also evaluate the use of new Flour CommoditiesWork on special projects for VP Procurement or others on the Procurement Leadership TeamBuild and maintain a positive good image of Flowers Foods through personal involvement in the community and through business related activitiesPosition supports the +ERP DIGITAL SAP integration efforts related to Commodities.Practice and comply with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.)Perform other duties deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and proceduresKnead to Know: Preferred Qualifications10+ years' procurement experience5+ years of wheat and flour hedging/procurementAdditional Ingredients: Essential Job RequirementsBachelor's degree or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
