As an Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting the project team with the on-site coordination and oversight of commercial construction projects, primarily focusing on MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems. Your duties will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining strong client relationships.This role is ideal for someone with equivalent trade experience, who is passionate about learning, developing field-management skills, and advancing within a fast paced commercial construction environment. While a formal engineering degree is not required, strong understanding of systems, building codes and hands-on experience with lighting, HVAC, and other MEP installations in retail settings is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesOn-Site CoordinationCollaborate with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and subcontractors to manage daily field activities.Oversee the delivery, handling, and installation of materials and equipment, particularly MEP systems.MEP OversightSupport installation coordination for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.Assist in resolving technical challenges, such as reviewing drawings, verifying field conditions, and coordinating with trade partnersProject Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate daily field reports, progress photos, and documentation of project milestonesTrack and manage RFI (Request for Information) logs, submittals, and other key project documentsQuality Control & SafetyEnsure all work meets or exceeds company standards, project specifications, and local code requirementsPromote and enforce site-specific and company-wide safety protocols.Schedule & Budget SupportAssist in developing and updating project schedulesCollaborate with project leadership to monitor labor hours and resource allocationUnion & Trade CoordinationCommunicate and coordinate with union labor and trade partners, particularly in NYC and NJEnsure labor activities comply with union agreements and jobsite regulationsClient & Stakeholder CommunicationBuild positive working relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractorsProvide consistent updates to the project team, anticipating and mitigating potential issues.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceRecent college graduate (construction management or related studies preferred) OREquivalent industry experience as a Journeyman electrician, HVAC technician, installer, or other commercial MEP trade experienceTechnical KnowledgePractical understanding of lighting, HVAC, and plumbing systems installation, including hands-on experience in commercial projectsFamiliarity with reading and interpreting construction documents (blueprints, specs, shop drawings)Software SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Proficiency in AutoCADExposure to project management software (Procore, MS Project, Smartsheet, Oodo) is a plus.Additional RequirementsAbility to work in NYC and travel nationally as neededOSHA 30, SST, or other relevant certifications are advantageousValid driver's license and ability to pass background checks.What We OfferGrowth & Mentorship: Hands-on training and mentorship from seasoned construction professionalsCompetitive Compensation: Commensurate with experience, plus benefitsProfessional Development: Opportunities for continued learning, certifications, and career advancementInclusive Culture: We value collaboration, respect, and a shared commitment to delivering superior results.Join Our Team If you have practical MEP experience, a passion for hands-on construction management, and the drive to build a rewarding career in the commercial construction industry, we invite you to apply.
